Default Engine ? - What goes here?

I have one last open hole in the block and can't find anything to go on it. What goes here, just aft of the lower oil filler hole?

Thanks,

Do you mean this hole here? Because if you do, then you can relax. You haven't lost any bits. Nothing goes there.

Thanks Clayton, that is the hole I'm talking about. Seems strange Porsche would bother machining it just to leave it open.

I thought the same thing when I was reassembling my engine. The fact that the machined hole doesn't lead anywhere makes it even more confusing. These blocks are used for 944 Turbos, aren't they? Is it an oil feed connection point for the turbo, or something like that? Perhaps it's machined to a point and then taken further if the block is to become a 944 Turbo. That's my guess, anyway.

Clayton, there are no oil fittings in that section for 944 turbo's either. Only fittings for oil feed are on the upper balance shaft housing, the oil pan return fitting and the driver side engine/turbo mount runs oil through it.
Good luck.

Well it beats me then. A precisely machined hole for nothing!

Maybe they initially planned to have PCV through this hole? Who knows.. Just thinking out loud.
