Just wanted to check and see if anyone has seen a 968 turbo s conversion for sale. I think the factory ones are more than I could hope for. I appreciate any leads. Thank you, Chad

A 968 TurboS conversion was still for sale as of last month in NJ. Follow this thread and ask around over on 968.net: http://http://65.61.16.109/forum/top...TOPIC_ID=11168

Factory ones are pretty rare...but the conversions aren't cheap either, adding something like $20K to the price, so you are in 993 territory price wise when looking at a conversion most likely...

BTF, let me know if you need to know any details on that car. I saw it in person, drove it and could answer most of your questions.
Regards.

There aren't any factory cars street legal in the US, to my knowledge. The closest must be Raj's Ludwig Heimrath clone, with tons of factory parts. A conversion done by Powerhaus, featured in Excellence, was kicking around-and you could always buy a nice coupe and have it converted-since the factory cars were limited to hp for homologation purposes almost all the converted cars have more hp than the originals.

I don't think you could federalize a 968 turbo anyway because none ever came to US in turbo form. Atleast with the CS, most of the changes are cosmetic and the drivetrain is identical. I can see the Fed not having a big problem with a CS but a turbo would be almost impossible to federalize.
As stated, the car was throttled down for homologation purposes. With a car like that, you wouldn't want to swap anything anyway or else you would lose a lot of its value.

Thank you for the thread. I followed up with rdatta and am waiting to see if it is still available. It looks like a great car.

968 Turbo S - How do they drive? I assume like a 951 but with a little more torque (kind of like tastes like chicken- LOL).

Thanks for all the help

BTF, how do they drive?
It all depends on the setup. Its impossible to compare conversions. They are a few ways of doing this and Powerhaus went the 944 S2 16 valve route. I think they use a K27/8 in that car. I felt that the hotside was too small for a 3.0 which would limit your maximum power. On the other side the spoolup is amazing. That particular car was setup for .8 bar for street and power came quick. From information you can find on the web, you can see that it also did some glory runs at 1.3 bar and made some serious power.
My car is a 2 valve and uses a true Garrett GT30 turbo. It has a hotside comparable to my old K27/11 which was a good sized turbo for my old setup. I think my car is definitely faster but I run more boost (1bar) and also the 8 valve head provides torque down low compared to a 16 valve head which will have an advantage at higher rpm.
I saw your email at home but didn't get a chance to call you. I can't view yahoo from work so I will try to contact you soon.
Regards.
Raj
