WTB: 968 Coupe
#2
Daily driver or track dedicated car?
There are 2 track cars listed in the PCA.ORG classifieds under the race car section. Also, there are 2 968 coupes for sale on the Rennlist classifieds, a low miles '92 white car and a black '95 that Pete Fitzpatrick is selling. Pete's a nice guy and his cars are pretty well maintained. I think both sellers are asking 12.5K for their respective cars.
I will probably be selling my white '95 968 coupe (53K miles) at the end of the year as I am currently building an F class (to PCA club racing spec) 968 racecar.
I say "probably" because I really like the car and am considering selling my Jetta VR6 and making the 968 my daily driver. But, you'll have to get on a short line as 2 others have asked that I call them when I'm ready to sell.
Richard
BTW, I located my low mileage car at autotraderonline.com. Good luck!

I have called Pete and he has already taken a deposit on the car. The funny thing is that someone from Little Rock is flying in to get the car, and that is where I am from. I have contacted the guy "Jolly" with the white 968, and am waiting on photos and more details. If I like what I see in photos, I will pay for a PPI and go from there.
The car will be a multi use car. I have a company car, and it will be used for weekend driver and SCCA autocross and maybe some DE events. The white car, that Jolly has for sale has 60K miles and LSD transaxle.
I have looked on autotrader and am waiting to hear back from a few people that I have emailed.
Any thing specific to look for with 968 purchase? I have owned several 944's, 944 S, 951, 911 and a Boxster S. I have never owned a 968.

Thanks for your response.

Jonathan,
From what I have seen in books there are no real significant changes for USA 968's. 93's had non CFC A/C. Early 94's were really carry over 93's. True 94's had new seat cover design same as 993 - Pollen filters for the intake of cabin air - "improved" lateral headlight beam - and they lost the plastic covers around the engine. I have also noted that the 94's have a non rolled edge tail pipe. All these things are minor and the most important issues more likely are the options, colors, mileage & Maint history.
The Brits had more choices then we had with the CS & Sport in 93 and less Standard items with more stuff as extra cost options. Sounds like that White car is a great buy @ $12,500 for that mileage wy/LSD. Just add 17" rims with wider rubber (if not on the car) and have fun.

Very early 92's also some cosmetic differences; an inset front hood badge, rear 968 lettering of a different appearance, etc. LSD type will also vary from early to late years. Because these were such low volume models, they seemed to be rolling changes, rather than model year specific.

It is still for sale as far as I know, I am still waiting on some information from him. Also keeping my options open as he is 700 miles from me and would rather have a later model if I can find one.
Does anyone know of a good tech that is familiar with 968's to do a PPI in
Cincinnati, OH.

I got an email from Jolly. He said that when he went to his storage building to get his car out, it had a dent in the roof and a crack in the windshield possible caused by a pipe that fell.
So for the time being, it is eliminated until it is repaired. Thanks to xsboost90 and others who have helped.
