D,

"Silver lining". Did you notice that this was such a perfectly centered hit that apparently neither fender was affected?

The perfect hit was an accident, the guy lost it on the highway-in the UK, as Curt noted. Those graphics were a delete option, not too subtle. I know I don't fit in those seats, otherwise I'd make him an offer-they have the painted backs, wouldn't they look great in my car?

(I got a ride in a CS with slicks in the UK, and those seats had me wedged in pretty tight-although I needed it when we were on the track.)

Damian,

That car isn't close to being totaled.

I think you can get the new recaro sport seats in a great color combination for your car AND you can paint the shell backs to match your car if you like.

Take a look at the recaro seats at the on-track performance website: www.on-trackperformance.com .

Later.

Rich, thanks-that was always an option I considered, but they really would be a pain to live with-no reclining, so when I have to stick a kid in the back it would be an issue. But having a genuine set, factory painted in SY, would be cool to keep around in the garage and put in the car for shows and stuff.

Have you seen the GTG thread for next weekend? Be nice to see the white car, throw on some plates and drive on down!

Damian,

The recaro sports ARE recliners (these are not racing shells). On-track performance is selling a limited edition yellow & black seat right now.

I've got a scheduling conflict for next week (maybe I can change schedule). The white car is starting to undergo mods for the track this week. Interior out, weld-in cage going in.

Richard:

What kind of cage are you installing? What kind of cost is involved with the cage? Are you stripping out the interior first?

Thanks, MIke

It possibly is an insurance write off - the unfortunate owner reckoned there was £13k worth of damage, which seems a bit high to me. The fenders may have been pulled inwards - difficult to tell. It is certainly fixable by the looks of it. I think he intends buying the salvage anyway. A sad sight!

Raj,

Agree, the matching wheels look great in the lighter-brighter colors (yellow, white, gulf blue).

Paint vs. powder coating?

My guy did a great job painting last time. With powercoating, I am not sure if the shade will be exact. Does anyone know if the factory wheels were powdercoated or painted?
