3 pounds is not a lot of weight but being 3 pounds of unsprung weight it is arguably much different that 3 pounds of stuff in the car.
I would get one if I was not concerned about class rules.

It is like the strut brace that go across the top of the struts under the hood, but in this case it goes across the bottom. I emailed back and forth with the manufacturer who said it would be best to use combined with a strut brace.

It ties the frame rails where the caster mounts are together (located at the rear of the control arms. I would think you wouldn't see as much difference with this as you would the strut towers, but like I said originally, it can't hurt and looks cool as "all git out!" (My apologies... I watched "3" on ESPN last night... yeeHAW!)
