8 Hours of the Cascades
This Saturday I will be racing (along with 2 co-drivers) in my 968 at the 8 Hours of the Cascades Enduro at Portland International Raceway. There will be 40 to 50 other cars competing with everything ranging from new GT3 cup cars, BMWs to Miatas. It should be quite the experience with refueling stops, driver changes, racing in the dark and an old school style LeMans start. To top it off there is currently a 40% chance of rain showers.
This is my first foray into endurance racing but I'm hopeful we can run a clean race without too many incidents or mechanical problems. I'll let you know how it goes.

Race Car
I hadn't stopped by your website for a very long time [not since the red 968 street car you used to have]. The race car looks great! Is it competitive with the 951 engine? Awe-inspiring work, good luck this weekend.

Thanks for the good wishes.
The turbo engine is still on a stand, as Jason knows. Hopefully that will be the project for this winter.
This is actually the first race I've done that offers a cash prize. Not a large amount but it would still be nice to get some back.
I will definitely post some pics afterward.

I missed Jason's party of gutting cars, but depending on schedule might also think it fun to come up for a get together with engine swapping...
And good luck. I don't think I'm going to get to see you race this time either (putting new belts in my car, plus several lingering projects that need to be done on the place before winter). Definetly want to see results pics - trophy and check?

Wow, it was a great event. The car, the crew, and the drivers all performed perfectly for the entire 8 Hours. We finished 6th overall and 3rd in class. We completed 320 laps, 14 laps behind the winning car and 9 behind the second in class GT3 cup car. All we did was add fuel and 2 quarts of oil! The Toyo RA1s lasted the entire race! The crew did a tremendous job getting us in and out quickly and the drivers kept the car on the track and avoided contact for the entire race. The weather stayed dry until about 7:20PM when a light shower started. Believe me, racing in the dark and wet is an adventure.
I'd like to thank rennlisters Skip (of paragon fame) for the great help on the crew as well as the great pics and videos he captured. Maybe he will post some here? Also Jason (jason_86_951) for sending some brake parts at the last minute at no charge.

I'll post a full write up on my website later this week.
