I've been looking around for something like that, but I'm leaning more towards a lift that uses the jackpoints instead of one that uses the wheels. Half the time I've got the car in the air I'm messing with wheels, tires, brakes or suspension.

Harbor Freight is carrying these:

$899 with a minimum height of under 4", lifts 39" up in the air. Sounds about right, even for my small garage.

I think the harbor fright option would be much more useful.

The question is whether or not you trust a $900 lift enough to risk your life working under it.

Not me, my life is worth a little more than that. When its time, I will get an eagle lift and all together should be approx $3k installed. I will try to make it a gift from my wife .

My brother lives near a harbor frieght. He is going to run by and see if he can see one in person. The low price is tempting, but I am not sure if I could ever be comfortable with it.

I have seen one of those harbour freight units in action, and I would have no problem believing that its a safe way to raise your car, provided you use it on a flat surface. Eagle lift would be better of course, but for your average garage enthusiast, this lift would be more than acceptable, and this is a lot better than your typical floor jack and jack stand set up.

Regards,

Scott, do you think it is safe to leave the car on it and work under the lift? Does it have a way to lock it to make sure the lift does not loose pressure and crush you? Can the pads be repositioned?

Seems like this would be perfect for KCWS!

I ask so many questions because I am interested!

I like the look of this one from Bend-Pak

And this one is an Eagle Lift (is that good?)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=43998

Both can be had for ~$1300. I like the next model up of the Bend-Pak unit for its "Pneumatic safety locks" instead of the "Safety Lock Bar With Multiple Lock Positions" on the others.

The harbor freight lift has a minimum height of 3 & 7/8" while the other tho are around 4.75" which is at the top end of what will fit under our cars.

Hmm interesting stuff. Only problem is how do you remove your exhaust or work on your clutch. Seems like the legs would come in the way to do a few tasks.

Yeah! You cant work directly under your car with those LIFTS .The quicklift has a center bridge where you can put the car up on the frame and work on the tires and such.I don't have much space in my garage and I needed something that would cover everything I needed to do.I ended up ordering a Quicklift after researching all options. It made the most sense.I will let you know how it turns out,I am confident It will be the best purchase I make for my car.
