Paul, being at these auctions (and I attend all 4) is akin to BaT live and over with in minutes! It's STUPID spending! A fairly well worn six figure odometer 968 with an all-over repaint that wasn't a great match to the color in the door jams fetched $37,000 before the buyers premium! I figured the car at $20 max.

It's fair to say that 968 prices are on an upward trend, but that is primarily for cars with the right combination of miles, color, condition and options. It doesn't take all of the aforementioned, but usually takes most and if you can combine all 4, it typically rings the bell when selling. The car I mentioned had a couple of neat options and a rare color combo, but no attractive odometer and IMHO, the interior condition and the repaint should have diminished some of the value. It still rang the bell for what it was. Congrats to the seller!

For those inquiring minds, do you recall the color combination?

It was a rare North American code 59 Turquoise coupe, 1 of only 2 produced in this "92 only" special metallic color which cost $1,500 when new. Factor in the cashmere/black interior and it was 1 of 1. 220 car as well. No cabs were produced in this color.

Some ATL reseller. I should drive my nicer than that midnight blue coupe over to look at that one and see what they'd offer.

Nothing like people trying to flip cars to unsuspecting buyers. I guess they think that there are a lot of dumb people with money. Educated buyers know what the cars are worth.

Atlanta to Amelia isn’t that great of a distance. So while I didn’t stick around to watch this car cross the block, I have to believe that the dealer was either there or had a representative there to inspect and purchase it. So if they were willing to pay that much for that car after having seen it…

🤔
