Default 968 Supercar Nostalgia and cabin filter for a 1992

Found this article that provides an overview of some of the changes that occurred over the 968's production, and noticed that 1993 and up got a filter for the air conditioning system, can this be added to a 1992 ?

That is incorrect. The particulate filters for the climate control were a ‘94 addition and only on the “true” ‘94s. The code 718 ‘94s were not fitted with the filters.

The top of the blower housing was redesigned to accept the filters and the filters cannot be retrofitted to an earlier car without acquiring and installing the later housing.

i don’t know who wrote that article and I haven’t read it in its entirety, but it has errors. The reverse lights in USA were not clear like in Japan

I hope this helps

Cliff

Thanks Cliff - is replacing the blower housing require dashboard removal?

No. It’s the top of the blower housing and it’s located in the plenum area under the hood. I have one but it unfortunately was broken in the wreck the car was involved in

the early 968's can get cabin air filters from only944.com. Those are the same inlets as 944's, so that solution works fine, have been using for a while now.

Will these also fit the latter cars? Say 1994, onwards?

Late to the thread — just to say I purchased a used '94 blower cover for my '92 coupe, pretty much just to have the filters. Works great!
