Default Wrapping a 968

My 968 still has a bit of maintenance to bring it up to snuff but it is largely sorted out. I’m turning my attention to interior and exterior.

It’s a 1992 midnight blue - photo below. The paint job is a decent 5-10 footer but has swirls and one super annoying dent on the hood that I’m going to have to address but I’m considering wrapping it rather than deciding between color correction or respray (same color)

Another option that seems super tempting is a cool, not standard color, wrap - can anyone point me to some very cool wraps they they have seen on their 968s?

much appreciated!

Find a real good body shop that has a skilled guy with a hammer. If the paint is not cracked they can do AMAZING things.
Think, clay bar and ceramic afterwards...

Agree with Yogii, a quality detailing service can do wonders, and the dent can most likely be worked out by PDR. Cost for that service would be less than what a good wrap job would cost.

Seek out the best PDR guy in your area as this ranges from seriously talented to hacks IMHO. Ask around the indy Porsche shops for some referrals and when you hear the same guys name twice you found him. PDR, polish, and a set of factory Cup 1's for the win ! Nothing more pedestrian looking than the factory 16" wheels IMHO.

What I did, was ask my Classic Porsche dealer. He sent me to a great body shop. They have a guy who comes around to the high end body shops and just does dents.
As others have said, ask knowledgable folks.

I'm far from LA area, and it is large, but there is a shop (I am detailing) in Costa Mesa that does really outstanding work. I don't know if they do PDR themselves, but I'm sure they know (and could include in their services) the PDR to go along with the paint correction. Check out their stuff on YouTube.

I'm a new 968 owner and am kinda in the same position as you. Overall my paint work 7/8 out of 10 and only needs some minor gasket/molding replaced. I'm not afraid of the hunt and glad theres a community like this with so many to assist. Happy Driving!

You might also look for a end of lease detail shop. Larger cities have them. They take slightly worn cars and make them look great.
If your lookig for a scracth and dent guy, call high end dealerships and ask someone in service.

If you don't mind traveling down to OC - Beach Cities PDR in Huntington beach did AWESOME work on my 968 about 10 years ago when I lived out there (moved east shortly thereafter). They're two brothers and teach dent repair courses as well. I had just bought the 968 and brought it to them - they took out about 25 dents around it, made it look like new. Ask Mark if he remembers Adam (me) with the grey Porsche 968 - I worked at Vans at the time - we had a lot in common as he's a skateboarder too.

3M Perfect-It finishing glaze gets rid of swirls.
Easy on/off by hand.
Miraculous stuff.
