968 stole my heart !
I've finally come to the conclusion long ago reached by many of you.
I have been torn between the looks of the 944 and the 968.
I love my 944, in fact, I think I have THE best color combo 944 ever produced - Slate gray, cream leather interior, black Fuchs...very "German" looking, a rare combo.
And I do appreciate the "industrial", less sexy, more aggressive look of the 85-88 standard 944's, but the 968's smooth lines and open headlights have finally won my heart. ( I never liked the look of the 944 turbo front end...way too busy with all those vents and openings )
The only thing I'm not wild about on the 968 are the pop-up headlights....obviously many of you are not wild about them either seeing that almost no one chooses pics of their 968 with the headlights up.
Could the headlights from a 993 be fitted into a 968 to get rid of the "pop-up" feature ?
If the lights would even fit, would they aim at the road or up in the air ?
I love the look of the Strosek aftermarket side panels...especially the air intake. ( http://www.estrictlyforeign.com/asp/...gory=1&ID=1094 )
I admit the hatch treatment is tacky...but do any of you like the smoother look of the side panels with the air intake that eliminates that awkward seam where the body approaches the rear wheels ?
I don't understand how the side panels would work without the wide body rear. ( you can buy just the sides without the whole kit )
Man, I'm getting myself all worked up again !
I'm going to have to stop in down the block and look at the 968 RS just one more time !

There is a company in Japan that is currently advertising in Excellence about their 968 fixed lights conversion. I will see if I can find the link. Only problem is that its in japanese.

Every girl (including the wife) who has been around my 968 has loved the pop up lights. Dont think I would want to get rid of them. They are commonly referred to as breasts.

True, some 968 owners would prefer non pop up lights, but most don't really care it's not a big deal really, afterall they are just "lights"
The reason no one takes pics with them up is that to do so one would deliberately have to turn them on and how often do you take pics with your car on and most likely running? Most times it is sitting in the driveway and I decide to take a pic, to turn the lights on I'd have to go get the keys, get in the car, turn them on and take pics.....

You don't see pictures of 944's with their headlamps up either. I like my headlights, and I really like them when driving at night-they're a huge improvement over 944's in how well they work.

I agree, I think its something "special" about our cars. I always thought the 928 lights looked really kool the way they popped up an this is going back in the early 80's.
I can see the advantage of getting litronic lights but for $1000 or more, it would have to be the last mod I would consider.

I got the 968 for two reasons...I wanted a nice handling car...I like the body style...and I love the look of the pop-up lights. Also, I can't afford a 1994 MY 928. " However, the 968 headlights don't stand as erect as the 928's. There's probably a reason for that and it may be more than symbolic. Better aerodynamics?
