After poring over the extensive records/ invoices that came with the car the 3 items I could not find listed on any of them were the 2 cam tensioner pads and a new chain . I don't know how to do this so Im having my fav Porsche mech tackle this for me as the seller is paying for it. The timing belt and balance shaft belt must come off in the process so those will also be replaced.

Who is your favorite Porsche mechanic? All the ones I find either do not know transaxle cars or markup parts to the extreme.

Thanks,

Still pretty far from SF.

Is that the car from near Santa Clarita? I think a German fellow was selling.

So the making it my 968 work has almost been completed. No matter how well taken care of a car has been, a change of ownership along with a different set of eyes will lead to a list of items that at a min need to be looked at closely and maybe even changed out. Items not pictured but that were also changed out are the T belt, BS belt, alt/AC belt, pwr steering pump belt. This damm Halls sensor is expensive. The casing it fits into looked fine until you touched it, then it crumbled into dust This is the case with my new to me 968, Notice the wear marks on the chain tensioner pads. (WHEW)!! 165,000 miles original pads, way to close to failure for comfort!! Its now ready to hit the road and rack up the miles.

Truer words about acquiring a 25 year old car have NEVER been spoken. Wish all 968 buyers knew that; I'm basically talking about me and my experience.
