Since I consider my gas - mileage high I thouht of using stuff to try to clean my injectors...

Is there any danger using products to add to the gasoline?
What products would you recommend (international product)?

Chevron Techron additive works well. I don't know if it's available internationally. All technicians I know recommend it. In fact, some say to put in twice as much as the instructions say.

if you'll notice techron has been around for along time there is something better. BG makes a cleaner called 44K. Its fabulous. I mix it with gas and run it through the rail as a straight mix. Night and day.

Tobias, why not just get the injectors cleaned and flow matched? I'm sure in Europe they have plenty of places to do this, we've got them all over here in the US. It's usually not more than $20-25US each.

I saw some injector cleaner today in a shop. Did'nt buy it as not sure if I need it and also whether putting it straight into the petrol tank was the right thing to do.

There are so many additives on the market and none seem to do as they advertise.

So, having a blonde moment right now, if you get the right stuff it is beneficial to the engine and therfore should be done?

How often would you do it?

Thanks for the answers,

Damian, does the price you mention include the labour?

I think I will try a liquid first though, to see if it does any improvement.

Labor not included, these are places send your injectors to and they turn them around in a day or so.

Marren Motorsport in Derby CT is a great shop to choose. I have had several injector sets cleaned and blueprinted there, including my latest 968. Visit there site: www.injector.com

Idle was smoother. Better throttle response. Then again, my car only had 25K on it.

I was in there for a timing belt and tensioner pad replacement, so I decided to do it.

It should only take a total of 45 minuntes to remove all in the injectors.

Do it for peace of mind.

Pitou, all you need to do is remove your injector rail to get to injectors. Ideally you want to run the injector rail dry before you open it so there is no fuel spillage.
Remove Porsche cover plate and you will see it. If the system is dry, you can crack both fuel lines and seperate them and then remove injector electronic connectors to the harness. Be careful to catch the small seals and the clips. They should pop out once the rail is out.
There might be a vacuum line or two to remove as well. Go to clarks-garage for procedure on running it dry.
