That is amazing to me.....25% of a Singer I guess....and all that was near stock was the body. Just like Chevy and Ford Restomods that seem to always bring big bucks.....I guess our 968's just never had that mystic following early on except for those of us who have liked them since they were introduced?

My engine performance must be attributable to the excellent head and injector rebuild that you did before I acquired my car. My friend Jim with his yellow 95 968 drove mine one day and was amazed at the engine performance. I'd suggest your top end rebuild to anyone looking for some more pep!! My first track day amazed me in that my long straight speeds were matching my prior chipped 86 951 ....which was no slouch. Thanks again Raj for the many hours you spent on this car.

Can you guys (Raj, Sdale944) share where you had the 968 head rebuilt?

i also agree that a tastefully updated car is both satisfying and should not impact the value of the car. Now, some people’s definition of taste may vary.

It sure does. And with a clean MSO!! But too far down the road to reverse that one...

I agree with Raj. I have modified my cab to what I want it to be. I get my mod money back in driving and ownership enjoyment, so what do I care about the next guy? I bought the car I wanted, have done what I wanted to do with it and enjoy it. Never planned on selling it, so didn't care about resale. Funny, everytime I get a little complacent about my car, it gets tons of compliments. And EVERYTIME I take it out to a gathering, someone offers to relieve me of it, mods and all so.....

...and I have a 944s2

Ownership enjoyment has always been where was heart was (and is).....but all the talk and facts of rapidly increasing 968 values for pristine originals gave me pause.
I appreciate all of these posts as they reaffirm why I bought my 968....I've always thought it was a stunning design, enjoy working on them as a hobby and enjoy driving them at speed a few times per year.

I think the thing to note is that the 100% stock 968 is a fine vehicle just the way it is. No mods are really needed. IMHO, they got it right the first time. The design, the technology, the driving experience, all there. Sure, there are areas that could be improved on but it is really not necessary. I have driven the 99% stock Minty to 3 PCA parades, 11-14 hour drives each way, and the car was great.

If you stick to mods that can be easily reversed (chip, exhaust and keep the original parts) and add stuff that was OEM on some models (like M030 bars, adjustable Konis, factory splitter) and stuff that doesn't show (keyless remote) I don't think you will hurt the value in either side of the aisle. And you'll have more fun with your car.
