Yeah, Bellevue. Gerber also quoted $4k.. I'm assuming they supply parts.

I think they mentioned that job to me, I do remember them saying that someone had recently supplied the parts.

Also $4k for the pump, belts, seals.

I see you're in Edmonds. I'm in MOuntlake Terrace. We should meet and talk 968...

I bought my parts from Sonnen Porsche online - great place to get Porsche parts ( prefer over Suncoast and Sunset). You'll save a ton as Gerber, Bellevue or Chris' German will charge you full retail on parts. I think that is why you are hearing $4k.

And yep, that was my car at Gerber. Had it done this summer.

Love to talk 968s or other Porsches - just PM me!

Wow, $4K for a clutch and $4K for a timing belt service? Those are absolute highway robbery prices. I would think you could have a good independent do it for $4K total without issue. No need to go to a dealer, I would think they are giving you those prices because they don't want to do the work.

Crazy estimates. I purchased my Porsche timing belts for $175.70 from sunset and my local dealer did the install. $881.86 total!

Belt, Belt roller, Balance shaft belt, Timing chain, Chain pads, Oil supply tube, plugs, wires, distributor, rotor, all new engine bolts and gaskets, Engine mounts, and powder coat the top half of the engine......

ALL for $3500 total! Belts alone would've been only $920!!

I had 3 quotes to do belts and the water pump, 1 dealer and 2 indys. All came back and said it would take 8 hours labor. Labor rate from $120 up to $171. Add on the parts cost and we're looking at $2000+ assuming using Porsche OE parts.

It sounds like you could have a free vacation in NYC for the money you could save out here. Let me know if you want my service advisor's name.

Dealer service departments don't touch any car of mine once the warranty is over. They're always overpriced and never as good as an independent shop.

The car is mine as of this morning.

They made minimal profit on it. I saw the auction invoice....

Congrats! I am sure you will not be disappointed. Like I said all the service must be done at some point so better now than later.

Congrats! And I would not worry about the clutch for some relatively long period of time if it works correctly and does not slip.

Congrats, great buy, btw, don't let anyone charge 8000 usd for clutch and belts, that is crazy!!
Clutch, leave it until needed, belts and pump, get alternative quote, I use the Porsche dealer here for maintenance, and when I did belts a couple of years back, believe I paid less than 1k euros, including annual service..
