Have been though a cat, to a jpipe then megaphones it was too loud. Sold the Jpipe and megaphones installed B&B headers made a homemade cat by pass, installed a stock muffler and added two Fabspeed exhaust tips. What I found out about the stock muffler is that you can take a tennis ball put it in one end and it will freely come out the other end. I'm so happy.

Pete, you should check mine out. Sounds like a 935 Kremer. Custom headers with heat and exhaust by Protosport.

It's not only the exhaust but the waste gate. Run that straight out.

Paul your car sounds amazing...

Was chatting with Evan about doing the Fabspeed Headers, cat bypass and G Pipe - similar to what Jeff has, since its gonna be a weekend car..

Still wondering if I should be going with the Maxflo exhaust in place of the cat bypass and G Pipe, though I hear some issues with droning on the blogs.

I find the stock exhaust too quiet and looking for something more aggressive...

My set-up has a resonance at 1500 rpm that's unpleasant. I'm having Ben at M&K add the packing back into my muffler over the winter.
The best sounding car I ever had was my SC . I gutted the stock muffler and added two baffle plates. Up around 5000 rpm it sounded like an old V-12 Ferrari. A Turbo is a different animal and it's hard to replicate that sound.
Some day in the future I''m going to invest in a RarlyL8 system. You just can't beat the sound of a tuned exhaust.

I suspect I will go with the Headers, G Pipe and Cat Bypass... and if its too loud, then worry about putting a muffler on after..

Hopefully my neighbours will be nice..

Jeff, with a cat bypass and a muffler bypass, you're essentially just running a "curved" pipe off the turbine housing, with no restrictions?

Something like the 934 zork for the 930s?

I'm going to install Fabspeed cat bypass and muffler with new tips on mine. What about the wastegate cat? Anyone make a bypass for that?

Mel, the work was done before I got the car (http://www.auto-edge.com/pages/Proje...el=965%20Turbo)

so I can't be sure. I am installing a lift in my garage, and it is almost ready to go. Will post underbelly pics when I have it working

Jeff, I'd guess that you have a g-pipe. It allows the air feed tube to route to the r/h heat exchanger. That was an issue for me before I went to the Bishoff/M&K set-up. The angle that the RarlyL8 muffler is at (about 10 degrees downward) and tailpiece I had to make interfered with the air feed tube, so I couldn't hook it up. You do feel a 50% reduction of heated air in the cockpit during Michigan fall/spring seasons

I think Fabspeed makes a real long G-pipe that would be good to run if the set-up you have now is too loud.

For me it's B&B headers, fabspeed cat bypass, and I've settled on a stainless steel N.O.S Borla secondary muffler I picked up off ebay 10 years ago. Topped off with a pair of fabspeed polished SS tips, it sounds better than ever, and performance has never been better.
I have tried a lot of combinations, including a B&B muffler w/ no secondary, and the cat bypass with no secondary, which was too loud.

In my setup I empty the factory cat on the wastegate, after 20 years is was more a cap and nothing passes, using a large drill bit, some chisels and patience, takes half an hour to remove the honey comb like material inside

A gutted cat will flow like crap. I'm talking about the main cat, not the wastegate one.

My wastegate cat is gutted - I thought it came from Fabspeed as the car had Fabspeed tips on it when I bought it. The Fabspeed tip (wastegate side) is opened up more than the factory tip - so with no WG cat - when the WG opened up the noise was nice! I've since put the stock tips back on but kept the gutted WG cat and you can still hear a nice change when the WG opens.....

Hopefully that kinda made sense LOL
