...many many thanks folks...
For 15 years I thought that the LSD in a '94 3.6 is different (& noisier) than my old '91 3.3 Turbo...I guess that was pure BS...
So, tomorrow I am hooking up my trailer and will cruise down with my Body man and maybe buy this 3.6 Turbo. I have a wad of cash now...Cash is KING!
Stay tuned if POS, I will just have fun driving my truck!

This is from a post i made in 2010 ...
System Normal ... my understanding is that in reverse the planetary shaft is forced against the 90 degree surfaces and that creates a grinding noise. When turning in reverse the effect is accentuated on the inside wheel as it is taking the most pressure. Additives may help reduce the noise by coating the surface so that there is better 'frictional slip' - but that's about it.
Fair Disclosure: Lifted from a Pelican post ...
Just found this description in Frere 'Porsche 911 Story 6th ed'
Its usually the 964turbo and 964RS guys complaining about the noise. Both of those cars used the extreme 20/100 split motorsports lsd.
here is Frere description
The differential of the 964 series Turbos and Carrera RS 3.6 has a locking factor of 20 % when the car is driven and up to 100 % when it is coasting in a low gear. This is achieved by a Planet carrier split into two halves (3), driven by the differential housing (1) but which can move axially to compress the discs (4 and 5) of two clutches, pre-compressed to provide 20% locking. This is independent of the torque, as the Planet shaft (2) abuts against surfaces (C) at 90° to the direction of the force acting upon them. If the torque is inverted, the Planet shaft bears against angled surfaces (B) and pushes the planet carrier halves axially to increase the pressure on the slip-limiting clutches.

I left Chicago area 90 min ago in my search for the 3.6 Turbo. If all is OK, a deposit, followed with PPI, ...my body man is with me as I know some of these cars sometimes have "history"....

^...yeah...sorry...still on the road...
Left this AM and drove (one way) 634 miles in my F450 pulling a 28' enclosed with cash...flat tire in the darn trailer...my cheap friend buys these darn chinese tires...PMO! A lot of fun being broken down on the side of the highway with a lot of cash in the car...
arrived...nice gentleman...not on RL yes on PCA...second owner of the 3.6T since '96...white/black all stock...not clean... ..had paid $50K for it back then...Not a gear head...driven the car, parked it any where and everywhere...not abused but for sure not babied...repaired as broken but not repaired prior to broken...southern car sat outside for a while...so some fade...waters stains...may need more than a buff...been hit in the RR quarter by the exhaust...told that he backed into a low pole.
Left a cash deposit, but did not buy...
My objective here is NOT to start another project but to buy a nice car...I baby my cars and this car was not babied...so there's is a 180 degree philosophy here between me and this gent. I estimate $8k of cosmetics and details...not sure about all the other stuff: motor/clutch/AC/... Drove OK...a lot more improved feeling than my '87 930 and a lot more personality than my '08GT2...
**sorry, for being coy...but I don't want to lose the deal...I will post pix once I buy the car!**
Now driving back...will be back tomorrow early AM...

As desirable as it may be, a pos is a pos. don't go down the road of fixing somebody else's misadventure. My brother bought a 930 cheaply, spent a ton of money and time fixing all the crap, eventually pumping it down the road. Yeah, he made a little on it, but not worth the headache.
As a price point, a really nice one w 60k miles, all fresh went for 75k this spring.
