I have to say a great thread and some very interesting comments about the 3.6t and the comparison with the RS cars.
Ever since the popularity of track cars becoming more and more popular over the 16 years the Turbo cars became less popular because:
1. the supercar bubble burst 1994/5.
2. UK car prices started to escalate.
3. Grey import (Europe & Japan) market started to open for options to buy cheaper cars.
4. fuel prices started to rise in the UK.
5. Track days popularity.
European influences and clubsport cars such as the 968cs, 964rs (pay more for less) soon became popular YEARS LATER around 1998, when clubsport cars were at its lowest and Turbo cars were too much money.
Years of 98" the motor journals -car magazines started to make apparent that these RS cars which were less popular and expensive cars at the time are great performers, plus at rock bottom prices.
The RS cars soon escalated through the years with the popularity of track days and the table turned making the 930/964 turbo cars less popular and expensive to run. These 3-4 years the 3.3/3.6 turbo cars hit bottom like the RS cars back in 95", the prices of these T cars are climbing whilst the RS cars have hit the high limit. The 3.6 and 3.3 T model have more scope to climb to were the 964RS are right now, but nowhere near or level to a 2.7RS.
Whose to know the forecast for these cars only that ALL old cars will rise by age and the push of the market from dealers and owners, but more for the less produced models and low mileage cars.
What if the government banned all track/clubsport cars on our roads, only used on track? Will there be a surge in demand and price for these turbo cars?

Anyway, to sum your arguments up, they clearly speak (in my opinion) more for the track cars (unless forbidden)..and the "turbo´s" will therefore never have the same values as the more "race car" car...
On the 993 GT2 - prices for this one already went up a lot too..its no far away from the 2.7RS..if its not already higher..(?)

Great Post..exactly what I also believe. 15 years ago before all this track mania started, turbo Porsche´s where the king. Now the GT3 has has replaced them as they are the last raw cars. A 997 turbo is not anyway close to a 930..but a 996.1 GT3 is maybe in "driver´s feeling".

You never know with these Turbo S cars, look at the 993 Turbo S were there only 180+ in production. Am sure we will see a big surge in prices for these cars over a race car. We all go old you know, backaches, bad roads so these Turbo cars are great on public roads.
As for the 993 GT2 well that is another car on another level, we have one here in the UK we know well. A lottery winner who walked into the showroom to buy a 993 Turbo and came out with a 993 GT2, today he has been offered more than £350k and still refuses to sell. So you could say way over the odds of a 2.7RS.

Yes, turbo S..I know..like the 964 turbo S..prices completely banana..thanks for the story on the 993 GT2..one of the few lottery winners with taste then

993 GT2: seems like the forgotten Porsche hero..has price wise overtaken the 2.7Rs...but nobody talks about it..- but this one deserves it more I think then the 2.7RS..far less produced. If I win the lottery I would also put a 996 and 993 GT2 besides my 997 GT2..

Actually the Turbo 3.6 is also a forgotten and not many people remember it around the world. I do believe it hasn't reached its "status" level yet. Not many people know about it or recall the Turbo 3.6
