1993 Porsche Type 964 3.8 Carrera RSR "One of 51 Factory Built Race Cars" - YouTube
Maybe this can help ,more than likely the centerlock 3.6T center on the RS/RSR was mag in 1992
and the 993 RS centers were certainly mag, hell the set on my GT2 came from a Cup car and were
built to GT2 spec,they originaly were 9.5 /10.5.

I always kept an eye on this stuff since I ran a Magnesium Foundry for most of my life and my grandfather pioneered most of the magnesium alloys used in the US through the Eclipse Pioneer program he headed at Bendix starting in 1930. I have done extensive research on this and only the RS cup I's and the 993 GT2's came in magnesium alloy or magnesium alloy centers. The center lock was an option on the 3.8RS and standard on the 3.8RSR as I had mentioned previously but were only offered in aluminum alloy centers. The 993 GT2 wheels also came in smaller sizes with aluminum alloy centers as used on the RS and GT cars.
Here is a list of part numbers and wheel descriptions:
Speedline Turbo 3.6 Style Aluminum centers 8 & 9.5 used on 1992 Cup Cars
8 & 10 used on 1992 turbo S and 1993-4 turbo 3.6
8 x 18 ET 52 part # 965.362.136.00
9.5 x 18 ET 47 part # 965.362.138.05
10 x 18 ET 61 part # 965.362.140.00
Speedline as used on the 993 RS aluminum centers
8 x 18 ET 52 part # 993.362.136.81
10 x 18 ET 65 part # 993.362.140.81
Speedline as used on the 993 GT2 magnesium centers
9 x 18 ET 34 part # 993.362.138.81
11 x 18 ET 18 part # 993.362.142.81
I have, but cannot currently locate at this time the part numbers for the 3.8 RS/RSR or the 993 Cup wheels. The 993 cup wheels were center locking without the stud holes drilled through. Same size and offset as the 993 RS wheels but weighed roughly 6 pounds less per wheel which is surprising considering the added metal to reinforce the backside.
IIRC the 3.8 RS/RSR part numbers were but don't hold me to it. 965.362.137.05 and 965.362.142.05
The only mag wheel used on a 964 is the mag version of the Cup I:
7.5 x 17 ET 55 part # 965.362.124.15
9 x 17 ET 55 part # 965.362.128.10

Unfortunately we were talking the three piece speedline wheels but I know someone who might have a lead. Whoever finished those wheels did a nice job. Unfortunately pitting is one of two major drawbacks to magnesium wheels. I am assuming these were painted and not a chemical conversion?
So what history do you have for these? They look similar but have a nicer finish than those used on the prior racing Porsche's. I assume you are saying they are factory issued but don't show up on any of the build info or have surfaced before. Are they marked with a production date?
It should be easy enough to have a set of the rings made for you If you can get the dimensions or borrow one from Nurburger. Although those appear to be a forging machined billet should do fine.

I bet a good machine shop would/could wip up a set of those in a real hurry
then again, there are a number of contours and it may cost a 1/4 of a small mint

If you have no success ordering per Nurburgers # I'm reasonably
certain my source could dig up a set ,trying to hold on to my extras
so I can mount my BBS E28 mag race center locks. Bert

I have 2 sets of the BBS magnesium centerlocks for the car as well but the rings from those don't work with the Speedlines (the black set in the picture my dad posted and the original 3 piece that came from the factory). Do your Speedline rings work with your BBS rims? or maybe I misunderstood which rings you were referring to....
Thanks,
Morgan

Jim, wouldn't be the bolt count the giveaway? My GT2 wheels I have in stock are magnesium and have 30 bolts. the aluminum I have seen so far have 40 including the RS set from England on eBay which by the way I have bought for a friend in the U.S. You will probably get the fronts for refurbish, they need the etching. Too rare to pass up on those wheels!!

Yes, the street GT2 magnesium Speedline wheels have two things that will give the immediate indications. 30 bolts, still using the Speedline logo bolts and the fact that the center cap area is cut the proper depth so a snap in center cap can be used. jdorociak@gmail.com jim

Hi Bert, I was reading through this thread and saw that my dad was already pinging the forum for some help on the rings. I appreciate any help you can pass along. I've sent the part # over to Porsche Motorsport to see if they have any and I'm pretty much at the point of trying to get them fabricated.

Yes I spoke with your dad through email early last week and put in a call to
my friend that works at Aasco Racing he offered to try and scare up a set but I've yet to hear back from him he's ,putting some other Motorsport parts
requests together for me as we speak.
I'll try and get a hold of him this week and see if he's had any luck.
I came across this issue when mounting my Speedlines and the only cups
I had were the BBS style. We machined them down and so far no problem
they do have a sharper inner angle, the Speedline is like a 90 degree the BBS
more like 45 degrees.
The extra I mentioned are the BBS style so no real help give me a day or two more and I'll know if we can help at all ...look forward to dropping up if
convenient love that 3.8 actually making a clone but that's another story,
One of the prior posters may also be a source ...Jochen are you reading this
need a set of Speedline mounting cups for centerlock any help maybe two
sets if you can get them..haha LOL!
