Where did you find the ET number? Can you show a picture of the wheel so I can see the depth of the outer rim. Sometimes the ET stamped on the inside paddle is not correct for the wheel as it is built. What you want is 7.75" deep inner rim and 2.25" outer rim makes 10 ET 54. Is that set new? I just restored a set of FVD wheels that had too aggressive of a build for a 968 and as it turns out they used 2.75" and 7.25" and I ended up changing the outer rim to 2.25" and the inner to 7.75" and now they fit perfectly, so everything got shifted 1/2" inward. jdorociak@gmail.com jim

This is the incorrect way, but since you have tires on it is the best. Put a straight edge ruler across the face of the rim (the highest point on the edge of the lip) and then measure down to a flat spot in between the bolt heads. If you measure 3" down then you probably have a 2,75" outer rim or if you measure 2,5" down it means 2,25" which is the correct size for 10 ET 54 RH wheels sized for most 993 and 965 applications. jdorociak@gmail.com jim

I'm running 235/285's on RH's with their standard 54 offset in the rear. Car is on H&R lowering springs, and the tires fill the wheel wells nicely.

Hi Terje,

Also check so that it's not a factory spacer installed. The wheels look like they are sitting about 20mm too far out so it could be a bolt on spacer on the hub?

Hi.

I have now messured the rims.

Rear wheel:
Total-30,5cm - (12") from outer edge of the rim.
Then take 0,25x2=0,5

Total=11,5"

Outer lip:
89mm - (3,5")
Then take 0,25

Total outer lip= 3,25"

If i put on 2,25" outer lips, will it then fit, total rim 10,5"

Front
Total 25,5mm - (10")
Take of 0,5
Total front=9,5"

Outer lip: 51mm - (2")
Take of 0,25
Total=1,75"

If i put on 1,25" outer lips in front, will it fit, total rim 9"

Thanks
Terje

The standard is 8 ET 52 & 10 ET 54 -- RH 3 piece Turbo 18" wheel. The front wheels are 6,75" inner rim and 1,25" front outer rim. In the rear it is 7,75" inner rim and 2,25" rear outer rim. The wheels are measured from the inside where the tire bead is over the other tire bead area. I was trying to help determine how deep your rear outer rim is thinking that you had a rim that was just too deep. Where these wheels new? Some times these wheels have been on a widebody 993 C2S/C4S/TT and might have been built to fit. How does your front wheel fit? Pictures? jdorociak@gmail.com jim

Here is a picture of the rim.

The rims are used.

I messured the rear outer lip to 3,25" (3,5"-0,25" as you told me)
I also messured the total rim to be 11,5" (12"-0,5")

What i need to now will the rear rim fit, if i put on 2,25" outer lips, then the rim becomes 10,5" total.

As for the front rim, i messured the outer lip to be 1,75" (2"-0,25")
Total rim is 9,5" (10"-0,5)

will the front rim fit if i put on 1,25" Outer lips, making it 9"total

Thanks
Terje

Well - changing the rear rims to 2,25" will move them back to where they belong under the fender lip. On the front since you have them mounted do they fit? Usually they would have been built with 1,25 and I have seen 8,5" built using 6,75 and 1,75" run on the front of 993 cars but not seen that configuration on the front of a 965 car. If you are measuring 9" front wheel then I suspect you have 1,75" and 7,25" inner rims. If you change the front outer rim out to 1,25" then I think you will also need to run a small spacer on the front so you do not have the inside of the wheel/tire hit inner fender liner on full turn. 3-4 mm spacer possibly is what I would consider. But again how does the front wheel fit now as it is built? Jim jdorociak@gmail.com

The front rim will be 9" if i put on 1,25" Outer lips.
(1,25 Outer and 7,75" inner.)

After the test fit on the car, i dont think the inside of the wheel/tire hit inner fender liner on full turn

Thanks

Usually when you measure from the very furthest edge of the outer rim across to furthermost edge of the inner rim you subtract 1" -- remember the correct way to measure is from the inside part where the tire bead sits across to where the tire bead sits on the other side. What I suggest next is to put a straight edge on the inside again across the top edge down to where the nuts are - the flat spot in between two nuts and give me that measurement. I suspect your front wheels are 1,75 and 7,25" - i just measured one that I have here built with 7,25" inner and it measure 178mm . jdorociak@gmail.com jim
