New kicks on my 3.6
As much as I love the standard Speedlines, I decided on something a little bit different for an alternate set of rims.
Forgeline SO-3 in matte Bronze, 18x8.5 ET40 and 10.5 ET54, 3-4 lbs lighter per wheel than the Speedlines, and slightly tougher looking.
The Bronze color is pretty subtle, though it is more apparent in the direct sunlight. I was kind of going for the 935 mag wheel look. Let me know what you guys think!

Damn! that looks hot. Is your car a metallic black? or is it the lighting?...now what to do with the polished muffler tips...I say remove and add the turbo s pipes in a flat black...just a thought...still hot though..

Thanks! Yes, black metallic. I've been wondering what to do about the tips. May have a custom exhaust made with simple round 70mm tips, stainless with bronze or a gunmetal finish. I had treated my chrome tips on another car with an anti rust gunmetal/bronze coating.... I'll try to look up what it was and maybe apply it to these b&b tips.

I think the meanest looking 965's out there are the RWB cars out of Japan - and the guy behind it all uses mostly SSR's, although there are quite a few of them sporting a wider (and very similar) version of your Forgelines... Dude, they look awesome and the matte bronze is so much better looking than chrome on your car!

Thanks Otto! I looked into getting a set of Work Meisters or SSR SP1s. SSR not available in appropriate size, and the Works were 4 months lead time and more expensive than Forgelines.

So how do you find the two rides? I found the GT2 to be the closest feeling modern Porsche to the 3.6T with a bit more kick once you get wind in the turbos.
Must be tough to choose which one to drive

Anthony, I haven't owned the GT2 for several years now, but here were my first impressions...

I modified it with a chip and exhaust, so it was certainly quite a bit faster than the 3.6. But I totally agree- the rawness and tactile feedback (imo currently only found in the GTx cars, btw) of the 3.6 was passed down to the 996 GT2.
I grew up idolizing 930s- my brother's 86 was the first "fast" car I rode in and it left an indelible impression. I owned a 993TT and then the GT2... but the 3.6 has been a dream before I even owned a car.
The 3.6 has all that I love about the 930- looks, smells, sound (from the engine cranking over, to the burble on overrun, to the click of the door latching) and yes even ergonomics, but with better throttle response and more power, along with a more refined ride and buttoned down (but not muted!) handling. I will say I prefer the unassisted brakes and steering in the 930, but that's all I would carry over.
There is a character and presence the 3.6 exudes which few Porsches that followed could match. The 996 GT2 comes close, though it has more to do with its level of performance and how it is delivered... it simply can't compare aesthetically. Obviously the 3.6 is very involving to drive in many regards, but it is more enjoyable to drive on the street than the GT2 since the limits are lower, and you only have to be doing double the speed limit, (rather than triple!) to feel like you are beginning to push the envelope a bit.
In summary, this is a keeper, unless you decide to sell yours or I find a 3.6S package car that I can afford, (even bigger )
