Post 3.6 Wheels

I know some people have come in here looking for these in the past. Through it was kind of interesting. They are expensive!!

Yikes, that's starting to get close to Factory prices. If I really really had to have a set, I would order them new from the dealer.

They are listed at an expensive price, but they didn't sell, so obviously the market price is lower.

Interesting to see that the rear tyres on offer are 285/30, mine are 265/35.

Funny enough I am about to fit some 18" speedlines to my 3.3( Not much cheaper in UK - rare as rocking horse S__t) after i get them back from refurb.

Tested them for clearance etc. with 225/40/18 fronts and 265/35/18 rears. ( Original factory sizes for 3.6)

Not sure of the fitment issues you would have with 285/30/18 on 10" rear rims and indeed if you would be in danger of hitting oil pipe in righthand rear arch.

Lastly not sure of any handling issues this could cause by an imbalance.

Would be good to hear if someone has fitted these sizes and any feedback. ( Just about to get my new s-03s on mine.)

Would the issue have been just a lack of theis size in 1994 or i would suspect that Porsche had good reason for going with 265 only.

Just my 2p worth.
Sounds initially good in the dry perhaps but more danger in the wet for the back end to aquaplane.

On my 94 3.6 Turbo, I had Fikse FM10s (17 x 10.5 rear) with 315s and they never rubbed and worked well on the track. They were a PAIN to have made exactly so they would clear, but it is doable.

Can I have comments on the 'replica' Turbo S wheels offered by RH, NR-Auto, etc etc? I'd like a set for my 968 (not inappropriate, as they were standard on the euro 968 Turbo S and RS), but obviously a new set from Porsche is out of my budget. I figured many 964 owners may have upgraded as well, does anyone have any specific recommendations or warnings about any of these replica producers? Thanks.

I have considered turbo 3.6 wheels from RH, but I found out that they are very heavy. Even the front wheel alone is about 24 lbs.

If you have the current Excellence magazine, take a look at the ad in there. They list of the of the weights of a variety of wheels to get some idea.

Regards,

Sonny

Can we get some feedback as to why those of you with 285 rears decided to move up from the factory 265 tyre.

(I need to make a choice on this as am expecting my refurbed speedlines back next week and i am getting the s03's fitted)

As the price difference in 285s vs 265s is not likely to be much I am tempted providing i am unlikely to run into issues.
