Steve,
I have to echo the above comments. RL is actually th best place to sell a car in this condition. Most dealers could give a crap about a real 3.6.
The fact that you have matching engine numbers is huge. The car is worth the most to a very informed buyer, who knows these cars and what's entailed to fix them.
If Ruf told you it's only worth 15, that is a crock of sh8t, and they clearly don't know porsche turbos. Ruf repair prices are going to be the sky high end of the bell curve, if they say 25k to fix, figure 15k, etc. BTW, which Ruf was this, RAC in Dallas or the outfit in Michigan?
From what I've read, the car still has tremendous value to the right buyer. Like I said, if I had the room/time I probably would take it on as a project. Nobody here is out to f you over, somebody posted a thread and asked for comments.
Step back, if it wasn't your car, and you saw it for sale as is, what would you ask, what would you offer?
I would take Kevin up on his offer. Your best bet is to be an open book and tell eveything that you know of that needs fixing. the non-enthusiast world is just going to see an old car with 100k miles and a blown engine.
A rennlister will see a rare 3.6 at an attainable price that needs some work. two very different points of view.

Sounds like 30k + 20k rebuild to EFI + 6k speedlines and you've got yourself a car for someone to keep.

Genuine Porsche prices

Piston and cylinders $5801.64 for 6 holes.

Cylinder head $2,266.03

Cam housing $1,687.92

Camshaft $1,238.71

Note, one can shop the internet Porsche dealers like Sunset and Sonnen for better prices.

With the mileage on this engine one can expect to replace the other banks cam housing due to wear and scuffing to the camshaft bore. Porsche rockers will also need to be added to the list.

Funny,

I have been away from these threads for a while and not knowing anything about the threads relating to your car I had over a dozen people contact me to ask my opinion about it.

Why do you blame only rennlisters for your problems? You clearly are having issues selling for a reason, if you think the results you are having are strictly due to rennlist comments you are delusional.

I disagree. I am sure that every person who has ever looked at buying a Porsche from anyone always has to check the opinion of the Rennlisters, to the point of actually drilling down to the specific model (and make sure you specify turbo) in the forum, find the obscure reference to the Ebay posting, and then take any opinion you read as Gospel so that you have someone to blame if you screw up your purchase. Did you not see the "click here to see Rennlist comments" on the Ebay posting?

Also.. if you are going to say if you want details, just ask, and we do, then how about giving them to us?.

All of this from a five post wonder. Can you say lack of context?

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions, particularly the ones that managed to be civil and critical at once (an admirable skill!) I will post a DETAILED listing to the best of my ability as to the car and its condition in the proper classified forum.

I have removed the car from RUFAuto and have all the parts boxed and in a storage unit.

The fact. The car sold for $31.5K back in September and was trucked off.

Disasterman?!?

Rebate guy (topgearwholesalecars) is threatening criminal action (?) and to sue even though deposit was clearly non refundable (I took the car off the market for a critical two weeks while trying to reach the guy and sent out of my way to work with him even offering him a hotel room from our Dream Cruise block so he could come visit and inspect the car) and...he never even saw the car or talked to me about it!?

Those of you with constructive comments, thank you.

You misrepresented the car in the first auction & should refund any deposit on ebay, that's why people use it.

There was no misrepresentation of the cars condition and i did refund a portion of the guys deposit even though it clearly stated non refundable deposit.
