Default No Spark on C2 Turbo

The car was running perfectly. I stopped off at Office Depot, came out restarted and 50 ft later it just shut down like the switch was turned off.
Car cranks tank full. Relays, fuses etc. ok.
It's been at the shop 2 days and they still haven't found the problem and these guys aren't novices.
Any ideas? No check engine, no codes on the hammer.
964 C2 Turbo.

There was no rough running before or any other issues, it just quit.

Have the shop check the flywheel sensor. Measured at the plug on the EZ unit, should be 540-660 ohms. If the turbo control unit doesn't see the flywheel turning, it won't power the fuel pumps.
Check the boost switch. It should be closed.
If that doesn't do it, get your car to a shop with experience. It shouldn't take two days to figure out.

Boost switch closed, flywheel sensor ok,fuel pumps run. No spark. They feel it might be the DME controller in the engine compartment , is this the same as the 69 EZ people talk about?
Very pricey.
Anyone rebuild these/

I believe they are one in the same. Try pelican parts or ecklers automotive, they might have it.

There has been a EZ unit in the classifieds on Pelican for a few weeks now.

No DME on a Turbo. The EZ is the electronic ignition module on the left side of the engine compartment. Moacur, what is that EZ going for? I thought an EZ is about $600.
You shop is totally clueless. Pull your car and find a shop that knows what they are doing.

I mis spoke I thought the EZ module was the same as the DME controller. The shop that has it is definitely not clueless they've got 50 years of experience and even work on 959's. The first thing they said was the module , but they are running through everything else before I have to pony up a couple of grand for a module. Pelican shows them for over 3 grand.
In the book it is shown as a switch unit 965 602 76 01. Is that the EZ?

That's the part but I think you can get a used one for a lot less.
Actually I didn't think they were available any longer. I've heard that some convert to MSD ignition or use that as an excuse to go to EFI. You could install Megasquirt 1 spark only too.

Yes, that must be the same unit, they said they had been discontinued. How is that possible? I can get about anything for my 73 but for the 91 there are essential parts that are no longer produced?
I'm not crazy about converting from the stock setup.

I have a 1991 C2 turbo
One ez-69 went out ....
I bought a used one
then one of the black boxes under the drivers seat went out ...I debugged and replaced an onboard realy
then the other box went out ...I fixed that one
Iḿ a EE and do not like black boxes ...resin filled ..live in engine compartment...
can go out at any time due to heat cycles ect
I drive my car daily and drive out to west Texas to visit my Parents and I was worried
so.....
I jerked out my EZ-69, coil, dist, crank ref sensor and installed an electromotive XDI2
from Clewett Engineering. I have the set up for dual plug and knock control.

eazy install

I now run more advance under boost , I also installed methanol injection for insurance
More power, off the shelf parts, increased reliablity , added features

I sold my EZ-69, coil and belt sensor for 500$ the other day to someone from houston
I know that is cheap BUT these parts can and will go out at any time.

I have my old one and I will take it apart ...I have access to prom readers and burners

The stock C2 turbo flywheel has 3 reference teeth = bad resolution
Clewett modified my stock front crank pulley with a 62-2 reference teeth = nice resolution

Porsche was very conservative with thier advance under boost and with the 3 teeth they needed to be
With 62 teeth you get more precise timing and can run more advance- within reason.
and you have a knock sensor

Is it plug and play or will I have to play with computer tuning?
