Question High Mileage 3.3 turbo price? o.O

I'm usually on the 993 side of the forum, but recently this widebodied beauty caught my eyes.
as usual, no affiliation blah blah blah.
$27.5k for a 98k miles 91' turbo, isn't that quite a lot of car for that money? I mean, it is a car you could drive around daily and not worry so much about mileage as it isn't a garage queen. Although it isn't as tamed as the 993, but its a beast on its own level! And afterall, there are only 1500 made for the US so technically value should hold or go up right? And does this price seems right, because I have yet to find a past deal for reference of similar mileage with similar price range ._.

I'm quite tempted to further explore this.

It might be and then it might not be. Depends on what it ends up needing in the way of maintenance and repairs. You could buy that car and easily exceed the price of a low mileage 964 Turbo, depending on how fussy you are about your cars.
Turbos are notorious maintenance hogs when compared to the n/a Porsches. You can drive them daily but the maintenance costs tend to skyrocket, especially on the higher mileage cars.
Someone came on the forum about a year ago, having found a +120k mile Turbo for $22k. He too, thought he was getting a smokin' deal (the car was in really rough shape, IMO). We tried to warn him but he bought it anyway.
He's never been heard from again.

I would be leery of anything below 35k, and definitely 30k. Before people start jumping down my throat, that's not to say you can't get a good car for less than 35k, because I know you can, all I'm saying is if it's less than 35k, my first question is what is wrong with it?. If it's less than 30k, then there is a story there somewhere...(generally speaking of course)..On the other hand, if they wanted 40k for it, I would still assume there was something wrong with it because it's a 20 year old car with 100k miles....that one needs to be lowered or have running boards installed...so that's a quick 2k to get you started ..

Ahhh okay so the typical price for 98k miles 964 turbo would be around 35k you say? so this is probably just taking in the account of the maintenance issues that it might have. Too bad the ad is taken down already or else I would venture to look in deeper. Hmm, someone probably got a steal or got a mechanic's nightmare. Oh well, perhaps a "better" one will show up in the future (not that i'm actually looking for one, but who knows... IF the perfect shows up )

and i agree running board or ladder would be the first thing i put on This one . looks just about as tall as a cayenne xD

Seems that the car has already been sold as the link is no longer working.

Not a big fan of the chrome wheels. Just get a good pre purchase inspection. The quality of the car is not a function of the asking price.

This car has a salvage title... which the seller didn't disclose... he "didn't know about the title - he bought it through ebay" - I had to find out through carfax. He still sold it the day after he placed the ad....
