Default front wheel hub and bearing question

I removed old bearing from front wheel hub and installed the new one with my shop press. I can wiggle the hub around with the new bearing installed, is this normal???? I put the old bearing back in and it is the same way. I bought new *** bearings.

Hi Jerry, how were you able to do that without destroying the bearing.
Once you press out the front bearing, you destroy it as you push out/detach
the outer ring of the bearing! Wear on the spindle?

No i didnt hurt it, the main bolt and nut had to be tightened down before the play goes away, apparently it needs to be preloaded, per the guys on the 964 forum. I tightened lug nut and bolt and it works perfectly now. Thanks for checking.

No that was before i tightened the axle nut, i was worried i had damaged the bearing in the install. I rented a kick *** Bosch electric impact wrench and it made my life so easy today...... thats some tool!!

jerry, make sure you get the proper torque of that set up, it sets the preload of the bearing.....vinnie
