No more than 3-4 seconds with mine.... and it usually has to be sat for more than a couple of days to get any smoke at all.

I dunno... they all leak oil into the cylinders to some degree. I guess as long as you're not burning oil during normal driving and your compression is good, then it should be ok.

Great thread with some interesting info. I assume with the age of these cars there are lot's of owners contemplating a rebuild (with a while you are in there upgrade) for their 3.3T.

Have you guys considered Todd @ Promotive / Protosport in NJ? They really know their way around aircooled turbos and has a bunch of different packages for the 993 (Both the NA and the 993TT). Their homepage doesn't say much but I would guess that they can do pretty much anything you want if you have the cash.

What is the ballpark cost of a typical top end rebuild / engine overhaul for the 3.3T? I would guess that going from a tired stock 3.3T in need of an overhaul, to a fresh upgraded Promotive 3.3 engine with 350-370 bhp would probably cost between 10 and 15K. That along with a new suspension setup would totally transform the car. Food for thought.

It seems like the premium you pay for a 3.6T over a 3.3T (everything else equal) is around 20K? Cosindering what you get for those 20K (speedlines, more collectable car, more power, big reds etc.) it almost seems worthwhile. But then again, it might be more than 20K?

Just thought I'd mention this having read this thread. I must say the 964 turbos are amazing looking pcars.
