This is the dilema I am in right now, but i know I am going light! The voltphreaks seems to be the cats meow, but very expensive. The pc680 is still small, but not 5 pounds small

I believe Optima color codes their batteries based on application. The red top is for automotive. If the car sits for long periods of time without a "maintainer", perhaps the yellow top may be a better choice. The yellow is a deep cycle. Although it has slightly less CCA, I have had very good luck with them in street rod applications turning over a high compression V8. If you're looking for light weight, both of these batteries are heavy!

Bumping this one back up...
Looks like the Optima Red top was the preferred. Anything changed since then? I'm in need of a new battery. Is this a good way to go? Any brackets or anything special needed yo make it fit and mount?
Hey Paul, how do you like the 15lb Odyssey? Found it here on sale http://www.impactbattery.com/motorcy...e-battery.html Where did you get the mounting brackets for it?

I bought it off Flebay (don't remember who). It's a far better value than the Voltfreaks battery, IMO.
I made my own mount but Rennline sells a nice one for $100.
