Hi John.
Hope all is well with the family and yourself. We should get in touch to talk watches some time. My collection exploded a bit last year but now getting it under control!
Your probably as p car starved as I am here!
Hope Jakarta is treatin you better than Fiji. Eitherway the roads are better than here!
Clint. I dont see the price on any of this stuff mving anywhere anytime soon. I think the best that a 3.6T owner can hope for is same as 993 6 speed and that is that price doesnt go down much further. New Zealand doesnt typically have the volume/demand or wealth to drive massive trends in Porsche used car values. Im guess is 3.6T will continue to depreciate over the next 3 -5 years a little each year then stabalise. Potential long term is for a small correction as prices rise due to scarcity. Currently the vintage Porsche market is at an all timercord bouyancy. Seen the price of an 73RS lately. Unfortunately like any specialist market it is pone to burst its bubble from time to time too. Ive had a few limited RHD species of Porsche (993RS 114 RHD units produced, MK1 GT3 around 200 RHDunits produced?, Audi RS2 maybe 112 RHD units). I can say with certainty all but the RS are still depreciating.
Still the proofs in the pudding and if your man sold his for 120s in a few days it shows theres still soe latent demand for an exceptional example.
Cheers

John, I also agree with your 'driver' comment, thats what i do like about my 3.6, because it is not 100% perfect I am not scared to get out there and use it.
Good to see on the forum John, I was wondering about you the other day.
Clint.

Guys of course it worth a squllion bucks on the 964 turbo forum LOL!
Makes the NZ new 3.6T on the same auction site with only 84k km and history look a bargain at just over half what this one should have sold for :-). Unless of course it was the accident midnight blue one but I dont think so as I think I knew this ones original owner (Paul Manning).
Isnt X88 just an ECU tweak (boost) and maybe some fettled KKK. Probably showing my ignorance but if anything like the same for 993TT then arent there far superior hp upgrades at far less money.
Clint I think at the time you paid about right for a used example in the condition etc etc and something you can drive without worrying. Graham got that car in HK from Paul before they started to keep them. It wasnt bad but the suspension is stiff? Theres a minter metallic green one somewhere that was ex HK too. I remember speaking to the guy who imported it. How many are there in NZ now? I know of 9 myself (4 NZ and 5 imported) so there must be more than that with all the HK, Sing, Japan imports etc...
Cheers

Just bought a 3.3 here in London and will be bring it back when i go home to NZ in a couple of years. Getting £10k engine rebuild at the moment.
Reckon this is a pretty good buy. Seen in it the flesh and looks great.

There was a damaged 993 RUF RCT on sale a few months back going pretty cheap on trademe. Anyone know who bought that?

The other 3.6 currently on TM has been inspected by several potential purchasers that i know off. Apparantly it is presented in a poor condition. One of the chaps mentioned to me that it wasnt even clean when he flew up from Chch to view it. It sounds like it needs lots of the normal little things sorted out.
The 964 turbo doesnt have an ECU (they have mechanical injection) I have no ideas what the exact mods are as part of the X88 pack. (I am sure others could chime in with the exact mods of the X88) And yes I believe that mods can easily be made to a non X88 car to yield as much or more hp (with my full B&B system and K27 Highflow S I am probably in excess of a stock X88) But part of owning an X88 car would be the fact that it is a slightly more special/rare car.
We found out why my car is so low and stiff, we checked the part numbers on the struts and springs - Turns out they are 964 RS items.
The 9,500km Brunei car is staying in Wellington.

History? enlighten me..
Saw it on the streets when was home a few years ago..wasnt for sale then (as far as i was aware). Drove a midnight blue 3.3 with 50,000 km from a place in ChCh for $80k (i think). Been hooked ever since.

This use to be a pretty amaizing car, It had a ruf moddified 3.4L engine and a 6 speed gearbox, and was very fast, but sadly is now not what it use to be. It has been sold 2-3 times in chch since it was repaired, about $80k at one stage from memeroy.
This was actually one of the cars (before it was crashed) that got me hooked on 964 turbos as well ;-)

I tell ya what, after just looking at that pic again now, that father and son that were in the car were very very lucky they were able to be interviewed by the Police. That could have ended very differently for them, lucky boys.

X88 Engine Changes as follows (X88 Engine was standard on the 3.6 Turbo S).
http://www.flachbau.com/x88.html
The M64/50S engine obtained its increased power from specially modified cylinder heads with different than standard inlet and exhaust ports, upgraded camshafts, modified timing gearwheel and the K27 7006 turbo charger (providing for more top end boost). Valve timing was advanced from standard for more overlap and richer mixture. Maximum boost pressure was 0.92bar the same as the standard 3.6 turbo engine (although the onboard computerized boost gauge only reads to 0.7bar).
