I left my 964t parked in a lot and came out to find the drivers side rear fender creased badly , just above the tire. The crease is bad enough to have flaked off a lot of paint. The metal was not punctured, but the crease is about 14 inches long and very deep. I have an appointment with a body shop, but I am wondering if I want to replace the entire rear quarter or attempt to have them beat it back out, use filler, and repaint ? is it possible to even buy a new rear quarter panel these days? GRRRRR.. This car was so perfect until this. Totally original paint, and very few chips at all. Now I guess it is time to deal with any and all paint issues since at least the rear quarter will get painted
Thanks in advance for any advice here.

I know it will be fixed good as new,, but,, it will no longer be an original paint car with zero accident history,, even though it was not a real accident.
Bad thing was I had parked it right in front in a position to watch it,, and I turned my back for a second,,, that was all it took.

That blows! I understand the no stories/paintwork side of things but I wouldn't pass over your car if it were for sale because of the minor damage. You have already documented the damage and these cars are getting older so I would expect some paintwork/touch ups these days. I'm sure you can get her back to her orginal glory or better!

I am sure that can be fixed just fine by a good caring body shop. In a way you are better off with this type of damage that can be repaired vs a chip or dimple that you get to look at all the time and fret over baby getting hurt. Last year I had an older lady drive into my rear bumper while I was sitting in the car and then deny she hit me. I called the Police and reported a hit and run and she was prosecuted and finally accepted her role in the accident. By the way it was my Honda Odyssey that was hit, but the other wise perfect paint job was messed up and the entire rear bumper cover had to be painted. She still denied she hit me but after the Police found my paint on her front bumper she got the ticket. Jim

Very sorry to see that. I park my cars as far away as possible. If cars in the lot are too plentiful (i.e. no chance of two spots on either side car-free) - I'll park even farther away. I don't mind walking. I abhor driving to the body shop.

I would rather have the quarter repaired than replaced for that type of damage. A good bodyshop can straighten that since the back is totally accessable. Last I checked a new quarter panel was available. Be sure that they remove the rear window and rocker panel when they paint it. Don't let them do a halfway job.

I dont even like driving through leander / cedar park
You can have the fender worked so only a little light filler is used
every mfg uses light filler on the production line
blending the paint will be tougher than the dent repair
let us know how it comes out and who you use

The car is at the body shop and they feel confident they will have success in straightening out the crease. I am going to go ahead and have both rocker panels repainted while I am there . I am thankful that the damage was not bad enought to warrant the replacement of the rear quarter panel, that would be some major surgery there !
I too rarely leave any of my cars parked in a lot and this was the first time I actually had to leave one parked overnight. Live and learn,, never again. IT is pickup duty only when I go out of town or stay overnight anywhere.
I think from now on, I will only do drives in the country and just stay out of the big city all together. Less risk, less miles, less heartburn altogether.
