OK fellas I'm officially part of the fold
My 3.6 was dropped off today. I spent 2 hours driving around the hill country today west of town (Austin). Impressions:
Love the old school feel, the feel of the clutch, simple (and non-ergonomic) dash, stiff brakes.
Pretty comfy ride, even with lowering springs and bilsteins.
Beautiful lines. . . from almost every angle. This car exudes sex appeal. .
Car is running a stage 2? kit from IA: turbo upgrade, B&B exhaust and headers, tuning. Boost comes on pretty hard with a lot of authority. Two bucketloads of tq when boost comes on causes the car to out of shape easily in first and second gears. Giggly fun.
Running MPSCs that the prior owner mounted for track use. I've never been a MPSC fan and certainly not on street. Will dump them for PS2's shortly.
Hard to discern exactly WTF is going on with the four contact patches when you are concentrating on not over powering the rear meats when cornering. I am an experienced track addict, but new to boost + RWD + rear engine and this car would take some serious seat time to learn to tame the beast.
Tan interior doesn't age well. Thinking that black carpet and new leather will do the trick.
I've had 2 prior cars w/o cats. This one doesn't either, and is stinky too.
Headlights are terrible.
People stare.
Wife yelled at me from the front porch when I pulled up "WTH is up with that bit wing??!!!" LOL
I'm pretty enamored with the new ride. I think it'll be fun to play with and has that over the top coolness of a badass chopper. I purposely decided to go for a car that is depreciated, beautiful, and old school, one at a point that you aren't tempted to compare to newer cars when it comes to performance. This car fits the bill in spades.

Congratulations on finding what sounds like the perfect car for its' intended use. 3.6, suitably modified and one that's done with its' depreciation - could hardly hope for much more.
Regarding the four contact points issue, some more racy seats might help but since it is a weekend fun car....maybe doesn't matter so much....
