OK fellas I'm officially part of the fold

As a general rule, I hate Rcomps for the street. Poor wear, cold traction, ride quality, wet traction. The dumbed down MPSCs on the 997 GT3 are more streetable than the 'standard' MPSCs, but still not worth the compromises IMO. Prefer the PS2 for street use. Gonna pitch them soon.
Hey thusly, you don't have some extra shoes around do you?

I drive on the street with my sport cups; helps even out wear from the track
They are a bit noisy and hydro plane iif you are traveling over 50 mph thru a puddle, but other than that they are fine.

I consider the 964 Turbo to be like a custom chopper. It can't compare a YZF-R1. It isn't less fun, but rather a very, very different machine.
Thing is, how much ultimate performance can you really appreciate on the public streets? Ultimately only a fraction. . .so looks, torque, rarity and general badassness become factors.

Thanks for the insight I am debating going the opposite way you have and getting a GT3. I've had mine for 5 years now and love every minute. Can't park it and just walk away, have to give it the old look back thing That said the new turbo and GT3 seem to have caught my attention and its becoming like an itch that needs to be scratched

Once you have that itch, it's tough to shake.
I get you on the look back thing. Not every one of my cars made me do that. This one does.
When I opened the garage on Sunday, I just smiled, thought 'that's a bad muthaeffer right there', erased all notions of lawn work and went for a drive instead.
The GT3 offers amazing fluidity and feeling of grip that these older cars do not have. 13 years of technology separating these cars that can't be denied. But if you have the cash and have the new car bug, I couldn't think of a better way to drain the kids' college fund.

Jeff, Love the new ride, I've been eyeing the 3.6 turbo's for a while as well. Would you mind telling me what your prefered sunday route is? (I live near 71 and 620...)

My prefered Porsche-turbo Route from Rosedale Neighborhood :
Austin -dripping spings -back way to blanco -luckenbach -fredericksburg -kerrville
Now it gets good ....Bandera -Medina -Vanderpool
from vander pool you can go to Lost maples leaf color is not @ peak yet
or to Leakey - camp wood
Get a cabin for the night in Garner or lost maples or Concan the hill country has few crowds in summer none in the fall or winter .The Medina -vanderpool - leakey route has some of the best hills
really steep and long good views this is a secret training route among cycling pros and they do camps in the winter here .
enjoy the peace quiet
The Texas hill country is still unspoiled and semi un commercial

Black Hat, looks like I'm just a few blocks south of you. . .just south of 29th street
Shews, living in town, and weekends taken up with family, most of my driving is to/from work up and down 2222. Need to start doing some 'epic' Hill Country drives. My sparse away-from-the-family weekend time is taken up going to the track.

I won't mince words. The 997 GT3 is a superior machine in every conceivable objective category. It's the perfect 911.

Very true statement - I have a garage full of Porsches (including, up until recently, a 964 turbo) and when people walk around, look in them and comment, they almost always state that the 3.6 turbo is their favorite. I think it is the car's voluptuous curves, the spoiler and perhaps its "Bad Boy" noteriety.
While I loved the car (my second one), I have to admit that I am more of a "newer" car owner, with most of my cars built for the track as opposed to the street. For me, it is far easier to go faster in the new cars with less effort, than the older ones. Guess I am lazier and my hat is off to the folks that can push cars like the 3.6 to their limit. Quite a feat. I would imagine that the 934/935 drivers were really men with a fearless attitude.
