Default Rear Deckilid Shocks

Hi guys i just removed my decklid shocks which really was not too hard just really tight back in there. The big job is going to be getting the new ones back in i think that it will be a little harder. Has anyone tackled this job???

Thanks

Thin arms and small hands would help.

The clips shouldnt be too hard im worried about trying to get the pin through the hole. i just dont see how i can do it because theres no way to hold the shock in place because there is no room. Any tricks that you used???

I had to replace one, and worse yet, fabricate a second one for the other side as I added the tail to my Carrera's lid (heavier). I remember it being anti-fun, and I remember dropping the clips and having to use something else. That was in y2k so that's the extent of my memory. Sorry.
Oh, a tie-down strap from the tail to your sunroof is your friend.

have your girlfriend do it while you hold the lid. helps to have fingers with long nails and patience.

You can replace your rear shocks and do it while you have the airbox out.

Well job is done......... of course i dropped one of the pins and it fell down in forward left area somewhere i tried to use one of those magnet things to get it but no luck, i bought extra clips but didnt buy extra pins like an idiot so i had to use a bolt with a nut on one of the connection points until i can retrieve that pin or get a new one. It was a fairly hard job but do-able with lots of patience and lots of stretching. One question regarding the new shocks, although they seem to hold engine lid up pretty well it sure doesnt take much pressure to bring it down i thought they would be stiffer does anyone elses lid act in this manner is that how they are or did i get a bum set of shocks.

Thanks
JERRY

had the same problem with my 993 lid. Sometimes it took both hands to shut it, other times one finger. maybe you need to pump the news ones up a few times, just a stupid suggestion. They could have a leak but that seams odd on both sides. One good shock should hold up the lid pretty well. Were they stiff before you installed them.

Yea they were pretty hard to compress.........as i said they DO hold the lid up but i can lower it with a finger, just seems kinda odd to me.

Well mission accomplished, albeit not without several scrapes and nicks I only lost one rear clip and found that if you put a refigerator magnet/drafting magnet on the bottom of the hinge it helps catch any dropped part. Also putting a towel under the hinge helps catch and recovery efforts It is so much better, now when I pull the hood relaese it actualy pops up!

Does anyone have any extra clips? I dropped one down into the engine and didn't get spares. I've been using duct tape to this point.
