Default 964 Turbo Virtual Dream Machine -

Like ***** Wonka's chocolate factory, lets have a wee bit of fun.... lets imagine you could go back in time, say 1993ish, and you decide that you are going to get yourself a new porsche...a 964 Turbo, maybe even one of those 964 Turbo S's that my dealer told me about.

How would you spec it? what would be your dream boat? Perhaps someone like cobalt can list all the various things, that might have been choices/options at that time, more or less. i mean lets not go nuts, but definately the big options i'd love to hear about. first, it would be great to hear peoples opinions on colors, wheel finish, interior finish, and most importantly, i personally would learn a little something about what was available around that time.

Cobalt, you have any time to put together a copy/pastable list of the big ticket options/finishings that defined that vehicle? turbo, and turbo S?

what the heck was i thinking about in 1994 that i didnt swoop up one of those honies and put here away? oh yeah, i was 25 and running a bike shop.

I'll take both a 1992 3.3 Turbo S, in Yellow with blue and grey interior, and a 1993 3.6 Turbo S (not a slant front, but with the rear wing vents) in midnight blue with tan and black interior.

If someone else has taken all the 'S' models before me, then I'll go for a 1993-94 3.6, with the X88 and X99 options (so an 'S' in all but name!) in either midnight blue, silver or metallic black and replace the wheels with gold centred BBS LM's.

Nice

i would have a 93 3.6 turbo in midnight blue with 3 tone leather, cobalt blue, classic grey and light grey, factory fitted turbo s rear wing vents and 3.8 rs bi-plane rear spoiler, fully polished 3.8 rs 9 and 11" speedlines, turbo s suspension, turbo s rear screen (no wiper and no hole)

then take it to ruf and give them a blank cheque to do big mods to the engine, exhaust, gearbox and brakes etc

that would be my dream 965

I would take the last 3.6 Turbo S in Pearl white, with Marine blue interior, sports seats with contrast pipping. There are not a lot of cars in the US with a different color pipping on the seats for some reasons, but very popular in the UK. The wheels are painted not polished. Oh, and the rain gutter removed.

There would be a plaque signed by Ferry Porsche authenticated that it was the last of the breed.

Of course, I was a broke college student with no more than $100 to my name.

That brings up a great point; I would have been going into my sophomore year of high school

I was at school doing my GCSE exams (15-16!) before going to college. I hadn't even learned to drive yet

I know it's relatively unoriginal, but I would want the black/black turbo from the movie "Bad Boys". I was in college and was blown away by its looks and sound. IMHO, it is the best looking old school 911 (let's say 1966-1995, as the 993 doesn't fit that original mold).

Congrats to all of you that have them!

Default dream beast

Exterior, i think would have to be the Polar Silver, or Artic. I've had a number of colors but the Silvers, at least for me, push all my buttons. The Polar i just sold, the artic i still have are phenomenal. The Silvers offer a classy color, refined, aggressive yet not over stated. gorgeous. They shimmer. THey dont show smudges easily. Like looking in to an ocean.

interior, i dont know. there i might tend to be more boring. maybe stock black with some piping. maybe with polar silver matching.

upgrade wheels to polished/polished speedlines instead of painted centers.
and as though anyone would choose otherwise for the Dream Machine...but of course Turbo S, and of course Flatnose package.

The White Pearl Flatty S i have has a 'rose wood' interior, i think they call it. Its nice, but i think the carbon is far more 'sport oriented'. Rosewood is nice, but its like having varnished wood in a Toyota Tundra. Doesnt belong. and, as a hard core road cycling racer, i'm all about the carbon fiber. More carbon == better.

the pearl white is an incredible color. i mean of all the colors, it is by far the most insane, but i think the issue is that you cant really drive it. you nick it, unlike blacks, reds, silvers, greys, etc. which you can touch up, you cant touch up Pearl white.

I think I would take mine in Signal green, but the flatnose S version. Lots of carbon in the interior and green piping on the seats or deviated stitching. I also like the regular non polished speedlines.

94 Speedster.............You mean this one? ...I always wanted that car and was actually suprised and happy when I got it.

I probably would have ordered something different , given the opportunity ,
in '94. But like most here I couldn't afford it back then.

Pre-993, I'd take a 94 Turbo S package car, not a flatnose, black/black. That would be the ultimate car up through 94 (or, actually, until 97) in my opinion.

I have a metallic black car that is stunning and has the advantage of being a lot easier to maintain and make look nice, but, if it were going to be a garage queen (<5k total miles over a 15 year period) car, I'd go straight black. A perfect black finish can't be beat if it is completely new and flawless. For a car to drive, I'd switch it to metallic black or arctic silver. Black inside no matter what.

I actually sold those at the dealer when they were new.......and obviously could not afford one........you have no idea how many times that I have played this game in my mind........LOL !!!

I'd get one of the "package cars"........fender vents, splitters, brake ducts, rear spoiler and the higher HP engine.....but no flatnose. Speed Yellow, polished wheels, black full leather and yellow piping.
