That is one of the dumest things that has been produced. You are moving the position of the crank position sensor from the stock location and thereby altering what the Ignition ECU thinks is TDC from where it mechanically occurs. So, when the ignition table in the Ignition ECU is calling for say 10 degrees of ignition advance, the engine actually is 16.5 degrees of advance (using the 6.5 degree change listed in the above post). So, this is like twisting the distributor on a small block Chevy engine. I'd rather have the ECU ignition table altered WHERE it needs altering rather than just across the board.
Dumb, dumb, dumb!
Dumb, dumb, dumb!

If a car doesn't have programmable ignition then "twisting the distributor" is the only option. By the way, lots of guys "twist the distributor" on their 930s too.

Geoffrey I will give FVD and Eddie Bello your regards since they have no idea what they are doing
Yes EFI would be ideal however the car drives real nice and took it to 205MPH this weekend with my buddy's Supra...Haltech EFI is next for sure using the best Porsche tuner Eddie Bello
...the dumb comment comes from Racetek Engineering....show me your tuning skills compared to this![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

How about giving us an engineering reason as to why it's so dumb.....
By the way, lots of guys "twist the distributor" on their 930s too

Geoffrey,
Lots of guys playing with timing on their 930s here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-9...od-thread.html
No blown engines yet.
I personally would not take the risk. As we all know, audible detonation is a tragic (and expensive) event on a supercharged engine. I'm more than happy to let someone else pioneer this mod.

Also like many manufacturers OEM tuning/timing account for lower quality fuel thresholds.....and to further generalize most chip modification companies increase timing to gain HP with consideration that the owner will only use premium fuel......same concept here.....according to YYC930 they have built many 964 turbo cars including 10+ with the FVD ignition sensor holder.....I like this mod as the car is more responsive and it is fairly inexpensive......
