Default X-88 Package

Hey Guys,

I've been trying to do some research on the various 1994 3.6 cars and was curious about the "X-88" package. Supposedly this pakage was good for approximately 480-508 HP---is this possible? And what type of engine mods were done to make this possible?

Thanks,
Mike

The X88 was not where near that much power. I think the factory rating was 385hp vs 355 for the stock 3.6t. Real X88 cars are substantially more expensive.

http://www.flachbau.com/x88.html has the answers, which confirms 385hp.

Thanks for the replies---Sloan has an X-88 that he claims makes the 480-508 hp. Go figure...........

Hi

That link is an interesting article. Does anyone know which serial numbers (engine or VIN) that have this option as my car ID badge does not list X88 option but lists engine type as M6450-S1R.

Turbo Jonny has a 3.6 T with the X-88 option. I'm sure he'll be along to confirm, but I think he's had his dyno'd at over 400bhp, although I think officially it's supposed to be "only" 385.

I think it's more like "no less than" 385bhp

Actually Sloan must have his info from an early Excellence Magazine that started this rumor back in 94. It was totally unfounded and these cars can easily be brought up to over 400 hp with only slight bolt on mods.

Just remember if Slaon says it ask someone else to verify it.

If it is a Turbo S engine it will be stamped as such by the factory. See this page http://www.flachbau.com/x88.html. The engine stamp can clearly be seen on the engine block at the lower right base of the fan housing. Use a flashlight, look around and you'll find it.
