Default Opinions on a 964 T 3.3

Could some of you Turbo boys give an opinion about this car. It's a late 91 with 42.000 km with two owners. There have only been three oil changes since new. The car has received a complete PPI with compression test which turned out ok. Last bill was a staggering 5.500 Euro (7.000 usd) which included a new clutch. Interior is flawless, full soft leather with immaculate turbo seats. Ask price is 35.000 Euro.

Hi,

Kris for such a low milage car, the price is fair.
But new clutch after 42.000 km?
Was it serviced at an OPC?

First part of its life was in Germany, service booklet shows a local OPC. From 98 onwards service was done at Porsche Drogenbos. The bill showed several leak repairs and I suppose the clutch was done since the engine was out and probably stripped. I have no idea if the clutch is the same as on the NA.

Kris,

Oil leaks and clutches go together.
When I bought my 964 Turbo 3.6 back in May, it just had service for a leak and clutch.

Car looks great in the pictures! Nice exhaust tips.

One thing I would have to comment on is the "only three oil changes since new." I personally would be concerned about only three oil changes in 15 years even with low miles. I change mine once a year regardless of miles which are usually 2K or less.

Yep, I agree oil every 5 years is very poor, especially on that many miles. Different maybe if it was 6k KM and had been used for long journeys.
The price seems very reasonable. There is no way you would get a UK car here for that money unless it has issues.

Before considering that car.........I would have the oil........hoping it is old..........sent out for analysis.

It will give you an insight into the condition of the bearings, etc.

/\ what he said, even for systhetic oils condensation of moisture contaminates oil and diminishes it capability to lubricate and cool. Is it possible that there is only a record otf three oil changes done at an OPC, chances are there have been some oil changes performed by the owners or a mechanic friend type of thing.

Thanks for all the advice. Are there in fact any 3.3 T specific issues around? Notorious weaknesses or early failures?

hi,

Are there in fact any 3.3 T specific issues around? Notorious weaknesses or early failures?
according to your description the car should mechanically in good order.

the main problems in my opinion are wrong (low) mileage and unprofessionally (cheap) repaired accident damages, so i would pay attention to these also pcrice related issues.
with 42.000km on its odo the interior should be almost like new (seat cheeks, steering wheel, shifter). have a look for repaintings and call the first owner in germany to ask him for the history, they are commonly willing to provide informations.

asking price seems to be fair if mileage is reliable and there are no former damages.

fritz
