Reviving this thread after seeing how the prices for Turbos have gone through the roof. Why oh why didn't I buy this fabulous car (details in OP)?

Yes, it's sad about missing out on 964 Turbos...but think about the great cars coming down the line. There are $140,000 supercars selling for $40,000 with 35,000 miles (996TT). Or how a about a modern Porsche with beautiful styling that you can drive daily for under $40,000 (997 C2S). Or heck, for only a little bit more money you could get a new Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca...drive it for twenty years and wait for manufacturers to quit making V8s. Lots of options...but the fun is figuring out what's going to be next, and then having a whole garage full!

True i agree...
Equally someone can invest in property and make money long term, but not the same amount of fun
I dont think the price of this turbo is too bad Kris, subject to no nasty stories.

............You guys started it!!!....
In 1993 I bought a 911RSA (new) for $47K and they could not give the 964s away...In 1994-1995 my 1993 RSA had an issue and went up on in smoke (electrical fire) melted the car down on my driveway...I quickly started to look at a 964 Turbo replacement.
I came across a Black/Black 1994 3.6Turbo (in Oregon) supple leather (& what I thought was a noisy LSD) with around 10K miles for around $60K!!!! The price was low back then, my wife thought that the interior smlled bad and I told guy that the mileage was too high!!! I bought a 1991 964 Turbo instead with like 1,000 miles for $50K (+/-)...I sold the 1991 Turbo in 2001 for $38K (good price I thought) to buy a new 996TTED...Back then you could pick up a 1994 Turbo for $4xK and 930's for $2xK...
I recently bought a '94 3.6Turbo (poor condition) for ... and I am happy!

5500 euros is what you pay (less or more) for a rebuild without big issues. Is there any working list for the job? Here in Italy 35k euros for a low mileage car in very good conditions are quite suspicious, and the 'nice exhaust tips' can be 'nice', but speak of not-original and depreciate the car. Three oil change in fifteen years are not too few, they are alarming... Are you sure that some intermediate change was not recorded?
