Default Chin spoiler or splitter suggestions?

I'm considering a splitter or chin spoiler for my track 965. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I'm sure there have been some recent threads. Try a seach on splitter or spoiler.

I like those splitters. Are they 2 or 3 piece?
Can you tell us if you know who makes them and where did you get them?

Since it is being considered for track use, I would like to get some idea of the downforce of these options. I sort of assume it would be safe to keep the proportion, front/rear, that the factory used in the stock turbo.

Here are my questions:
Does anyone have any downforce data available on the stock spoilers?
Does anyone publish downforce data for these aftermarket options?

Until I have more information, I am not changing my spoilers - I think it is important to know and understand the impact of these modification when used on the track. I doubt this matters much on the street.

Jeff, I don't question the desirability of that data, just not sure who is running these cars on track in a team who might actually measure such things. I added the back wing recently. I'm sure it probably adds some rear downforce, which is why I'm looking at front splitters to somewhat balance out things.

But just seat of the pants on a tight track with no turns above about 85 at the apex, and top straightaway speed of 119, the front end didn't feel any lighter without any changes. I know that's only anecdotal, but matches my experience with my 1973 911 RS replica race car. The front air dam got broken off on that car. Even on a couple of fast tracks, its absence was not discernable by me. In fact, I thought good riddance, because of the hassle it had been (remove the air dam to put the car on the trailer, carry a spare, etc.)

Now, if I were running Daytona (which I can't this year), I would definitely have something on front. I'm currently planning to run Road America, which is why I'm considering this.

Have you considered the Ruf Spoiler? About 400.00. I've seen it in person and like it's subtleness. Not sure about track effectiveness. Had the Turbo S splitters on my C4 and loved the look also.

Default Downforce of Splitters and Wings

I just happened across an old C&D article on the Exige, which had a quote on this topic:

"The main elements in the Exige's aero advantage are the front splitter and the big rear wing, and the payoff can be expressed on paper. According to Lotus wind-tunnel data, at 100 mph the Elise has 8.6 pounds of aero downforce at the front, 4.4 pounds at the rear. When the Exige is going the same speed, there are 42.5 pounds squashing down the front end and 48.2 pounds on the rear."

Full article is at http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...tus-exige.html
