So basically gone for full RS interior and 6 pt harnesses. Old rear seat mountings have be drilled out and removed, and new harness mounting points welded in....

James,

For sure this stuff weighs a ton. When I stripped my C2, the wiring harness alone weighed 55lbs, the HVAC system 30lbs, etc. I did put my bare chassis with solid roof and turbo flares, seam welding, and with cage on my scales prior to powercoating and it weighed 571lbs which I thought was pretty light.

Geoffrey, it is amazing where the weight comes from. I'd be very happy if I could get close to 1300kg, but that might be a push, as i'm keeping air con, adding second oil cooler etc. I will replace the rear screen with the RS lightwieght item which has to be worth a few KG. The BBS mags I run have saved 20KG. Next year, i'm thinking about replacing as many body pannels as possible with carbon fibre.

The sick irony is that I have added 180 lbs of lead to my car to "make weight" for PCA C Class. I have to meet the Porsche book weight of 3274#. My car, without any lightening other than seats (offset by full cage?) was way under that (about 180#... ).

Sameer, the car weighed 1430kg before (which is down 40kg on stock wieght due to headers, spoiler, clutch being changed). I'll weight again afterwards.

My engine has also been completely stripped down, but that will be a new thread in due course...

Ok, just decided to ditch the Air Con, never worked properly any way. It'll also make way for big secondary oil cooler....

Not sure where the rear screen is coming from yet.
