Question Opinions needed on 965 rockers

Few things left for my 930 to 965 conversion (side rockers, mirrors) ...

Which side rockers do you prefer?

I like the photoshoped 2nd photo as the lines are cleaner and really shows the fender flares. This will be done cutting the OEM rockers straight across as shown in the photo.

Opinions please. Hope L8Apex doesn't mine me photoshoping his car as my car is almost the same. The last three pictures shows my conversion thus far.

Agreed. First photo. The raised section helps accentuate the flares and doubles as a stone-chip protector.

Looks great so far. 1st photo for sure.

With all the work whats up with the old style flag mirrors. Aero mirrors would complete the look better.

Thanks guys. I guess the first photo (OEM) it is. My aero mirrors just came in. Those will be painted along with the rockers.

NSXTC,
Are you using factory parts throughout?
I'm going to do the same thing on my 86 930. I already have the 993 mirrors, and I bought factory lights all the way around, rear bumper complete and complete side skirts. Now, just looking for a front bumper with core support and the undertrays...
Please share your experiences as everyone I have asked that owns a converted 930 bought the car like that...
Thanks in advance,
E-man930

The conversion took quite a while. A lot of 'little things here and there'.

Starting with the front bumper: I got rid of the bumper shocks, relocated the horn (to get an unobstructed air path to the oil cooler), added ducting from the front vents (where the fog lights use to be), removed the headlight washer/pump. Probably saved over 50 lbs from stock. I didn't use any core support because supprisingly enough, the stock mounts was more than adequate. I'll let you know when I hit something though . Complexity: 4/5

The undertray: I got the OEM tray, but had to cut around the tow hooks. Hard part was making sure they fit nicely to the bumper. Complexity: 3/5

The rear bumper was probably what took the longest. Had to cut holes for the 930 dual exhaust. Bumper was a three piece affair and I used the 964 heat shield in the bumper. Mounting it was straightforward. The bolts near the fender was hard to get at though. I have the rear core support, but decided not to use it. Again, the stock mounts was more than adequate. I'll let you know how it goes when some a**hole decides to sit on it. . The modified the stock rear fender bottom support with a long bolt and a few nuts. The stock support was too short. Prob. save over 50 lbs there also. Complexity: 4/5

Front/side turn singal conversion: I just spliced the existing wires. What took the longest was finding the turn signal bulb housing that fits exactly to my white lense. Spend 2 hours at the junk yard looking at Hondas/VW/Audi. Finally found the match from an old Audi 5000. Complexit: 2/5

All in all, on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the hardest, I consider this project a 4 only because of the 'little things'. You need a lot of patience.

BTW, if any one needs the rear bumper core support, I have one for sale.

Thanks David for taking the time to share!
I'm looking forward to converting my 930.
I have all of the lights, with wiring, as well as the bulbs, bulb sockets and seals... Everything is factory.
I plan on using the 964 core support on the front and rear bumpers, I'm kind of scared to go without just in case somehting minor happened it may turn into something major without those bumper supports. I'm glad to know that things do bolt up. I was worried I would have to cut metal, bend things... maybe make new holes... I think I'll post a step by step tutorial once I get my front bumper/core support/undertrays...
