Yes, the Japanese have some applications for the 996s.... I don't think anyone produces for 964s tho... I do know an exhaust manufacturor in japan who would make one if we could order like 500 pieces... lol

Inconel is a better choice over Titanium. Ti is lightweight but does not handle the heat/cracks as good as Inconel..

Sameer;

When I need 321 Stainless or inconel, Burns is where I get it from.

EDIT.. Burns also makes the BEST 3 to 1 Merge collector available today..

Anyone has pics of under carraige with equal length headers installed on 964 turbo?

I am looking into fabricating one. Found an exhaust manufacturer 70km from where i live and they have an impressive setup.
Already made one for my NSX and is absolutely fantastic - they input everything into autocad then use laser cutters and mandrell benders to fabricate. welding machines are industrial grade that are as large as the two door type fridges!
They OEM for famous japanese brands and some US shops (he would not reveal his clients but I saw a shipment going to japan for mugen)
Sameer, i think u heard the exhaust on my old 964 C4 at one of the PCS events (autoX) and asked me what exhasut it was. That was fabricated in SIngapore which was good but nowhere compared to what this factory can produce here
I asked the MD of company if he had iconel or titanium. He said iconel needs indent of stock. he will not work on titanium unless there are large orders as they are a pain to work with

Are you sure you actually want equal length for a turbo? My limitied understanding is that equal length pipes do nothing but increase lag for a turbo.

Yes, you can install equal length headers and turn your 965 into a drag car.. Keep the primaries as short as possible.

Why would equal length headers increase lag? There is less resistance to exhaust flow and this decreases losses as well as increases exhaust gas velocity as exhaust pulses do not clash.

I know there is going to be less benefits from wave tuning (compared to NA cars) but there must be gains from scavenging effect of exhaust gases.

I also intend to experiment with venturis which in theory should increase speed of gases entering the turbo and therefore spool it up faster

Because of the length of the primaries. Tube length = lag when you have a flat six. Look at the 993TT designs and the 996TT designs.. Very short primaries direct to the collectors.

So will all 6 primaries going direct and merging at the turbo be the best design? And what ID for primaries would you recommend for the 3.3

It's tough on a flat six to get all the primaries in one place. The best design is to quickly get them to a 3 pipe colector. The problem has always been that 4,5,6 has a larger crossover pipe. If you can tuck the colector closer to the center of the case, you can shorten up the secondary pipe to the turbo. For a 3.3 I'd use 1 5/8"
