Equally as important as the collector is the merge into the turbo flange. If you want a realy nice set up, use a split header, flange and turbine housing - keep the left and right pulses separate all the way to the turbo.

Personally, I don't think equal length add any significant time to spool (ie, lag) unless the primaries are too big and the tubes take the long way to the turbo. However, I would only use equal length on EFI cars, not CIS.
