Default Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 Vin Number doubt

Good morning, this is my first post and i am very happy to be here with all this knowledge.
I had some Porsches in the past but always older like SWB, 912, 911 2.2T and similar prebumber
and SC and 2.7. But i always dreamt a 964 Turbo 3.6 (love the wheels!) so i have the opportunity
to buy a project dismantled. But, i have a doubt about the vin number. I have never seen a chassis
number like this on a 964, but i have to say i have never seen a chassis number of a 3.6 Turbo.
Color is matching the car, and specs like the sunroof.
Any confirmation that the number stamping is genuine?
Thank you!

Welcome !

where is that stamping ? There is also one in the trunk on the spare tire of this isn’t in that location.

There are a couple of ways to interpret your question:

Are you doubting the way in which it’s stamped or the location of it etc ?

or are you doubting it because if the sequence of the numbers and letters ?

This car is an RoW car and they have the ‘ZZZ’ in the VIN

that said I’m sure the 3.6T gurus will chime in. I’m just a lowly 3.3T owner haha

But I do have a 1991 RoW Turbo and the VIN sequence is WP0ZZZ96ZMS470###

This is a helpful VIN decoder: https://www.stuttcars.com/porsche-91...s-vin-numbers/

Keep us posted!

According to the vin code this is a MY 1993 turbo 3.6, the MY1994 had ...96ZRS470....

The font looks authentic, the number must be on a tin fold centered under the fuel tank.
The VIN must also be engraved on the type plate at the front right of the wheel arch in the trunk with the addition "Type 965 3.6".

Thank you everyone for the help.

1) @das76 - i confirm the stamping is in the correct location, close up to the spare tyre
and my question was about doubting "the way in which it’s stamped".
I have never seen a Vin number that is so lightly engraved and not punched.
The font looks correct yes i confirm, but i have seen several different stamping:
with numbers made of small DOTs, with punches..

2)@friz k - YES i confirm the number is on a tin fold centered under the fuel tank.
But, have you ever seen a number that is so lightly engraved and not punched?

Has anyone a MY93 964 3.6 Vin number (96ZPS) to post? deleting last digit is Ok i just
want to double check the engraving deep..

Thank you!

@emilios - Thank you for your confirmation that looks correct, i see you have a 964 Turbo 3.6 , is that a MY93 96ZPS ?
Can you confirm you have same engraving without punching?

@NC_ITA
are there any other VINs on the car ? Most came with the VIN in a few locations

Mine is a Japanese market car and only has the VIN in the trunk under the fuel tank : on the spare tire holder. No decals , plates etc anywhere

Can you indulge us with more details are about disassembled car ? Sounds like a great project !

there should also be a riveted plate inside on the A-pillar.

Looks like it was painted over.
There's a Stamp below the Climate control, Stamp on the rear Dash. and Stamps on Both Doors.
Those other stamps are for the NCIB. Your state patrol can run those numbers.
B-pillar and A-pillar are reproduced today.

Only in some markets (USA, ...), not Europe.

I can’t seem to load a pic. My ‘93 Turbo 3.6 did not have a VIN number like that. The numbers and letters had fine dimples. Similar to the yellow ‘94 pic above. My number was *470223

Is there any paper sticker on the owners pack or in the frunk? If there is you can check the build number and compare to what’s stamped on the panels
