Default Elephant racing Bump Steer Correcting Tie Rod Kit

hey folks.

i have to replace the factory outer tie rods at $150-180/pr

i have an RoW car.

Is the Elephant racing Bump Steer Correcting Tie Rod Kit worth the extra $440 for the average driver like me ? Does anyone have experience with it ? I guess one advantage is it also replaces the stock inner tie rods (as far as I can tell) which are $480/pr. I’m not sure of the condition of the inner tie rods but maybe this is another ‘while you are there …’ moments.

link https://www.elephantracing.com/porsc...-rods-for-964/

their description says:“Lowered cars with non-RS wheel carriers suffer from bump steer and will benefit from bump geometry correction.

Bump steer is a change in toe due to vertical movement of the wheel, such as when driving over a bump. The toe change causes the car to turn, and the driver needs to constantly correct for this to maintain a steady trajectory. This makes the car a handful to drive, especially over bumpy road surfaces.

Bump correction is achieved by moving the tie rod end pivot about 10mm closer to the steering knuckle as compared to the stock tie rod end. This changes the angle of the tie rod to produce the bump geometry correction.”

im assuming my RoW car would qualify as a lowered car since is lower than a US spec car ?

Something to look into, I believe the 964 RSR and 965 LT used the stock 965 carriers and tierods. Those cars were slammed at least to RS spec height. One thing I noticed, was the caster specs were different on those cars, the specs called for less caster than stock, Maybe that helped with bump steer. I thought I heard that from someone as well.

I went with the FVD complete turbo tierod for the 965, they look similar to the 930 turbo tierods. They are priced reasonably. I love them

heliolps2, Tomorrow I'll be pulling my 22 year old new tie rods off this car I installed in 2000. They still have the stickers with 600 miles since i sold the car. I'm concerned they could be shot like everything else. How do you know if they still feel tight?

If they only have 600 miles on them and the boots are intact (no rips), they are fine to re-use.

ROW Turbos are a *little* lower than US spec but not so low as to need the uber-expensive Elephant Racing kit.
I'm running Turbo S/RS height (both are the same) + 5 mm and I really don't detect any bump steer issues.
That yellow RSR that Helio posted would need some bump steer correction. Then again, it's a track car.

I'm in the planning/purchasing phase of a suspension overhaul using 993 uprights and rack and new coilovers.
I was planning on using the Elephant bump steer kit as well.
Have you been able to drive with them installed yet?
