I have no interest in listing this car at all. I go through cars quite a bit and selling is always the worst. Add in a 30 year old car like this that is rare and over $100k and the tire-kickers/time-wasters/car-haters will come out like flies on poop! Every old car I have tried to sell has been a hassle and I really am just not up for it. Regardless, I love the car and I would have a much easier time selling one of my "newer" cars than this so I would go that route if I wanted to sell something.

ahhh, yea,... sorry my intent did not come thru well in my post. I was agreeing with you. PIA to sell by "posting" a FS ad. I would not do that either.

My only other comments were that it is much much easier to eliminate the tire-kickers/time-wasters/flippers/flies-on-... by actively pursing a buyer 1-on-1. Direct calls.

I only chime in with all this, because of my recent experience buying a GT car (2.5 yrs ago), and for over 2 years now following that market. Selling a rare 997 GT3 car on the open market would be a very similar distasteful experience. I would not do that either.
BUT, there are indeed some very specific 997 GT focused sellers in that market that have clients who actually pay them to "find" the right GT car for them. So they have a deep database of cars, owners, sellers & buyers.
Selling my 997.2 GT3 car would be so much easier to do it that way,.. and I may take a few thousand less than market, but it would be totally worth it. Hence my comments about forward reaching to dealers & getting to know their margins. I am quite certain if I wanted to sell my 964 Turbo, I could find a buyer without all the hassles.

anyway,... talk is cheap on here, since most of us do not want to sell anyway.

Enjoy the Superbowl & the commercials!

Well I guess this sale on BaT indicates our cars have clearly left the low $100's in value. This is a nice low-mileage Turbo but it is modified and has had paintwork. Still sold for $165k including buyers premium.

Bummer that Texas had such horrible weather & the seller could not recant his original notation: "No meter photos available but we assure you this vehicle has not had any paint work."

That just said to me, that the seller had not done their research before listing the car. It means they really have no idea what the car may still need in the way of add'l maintenance / tender loving care.

But clearly no one cared!! It was not discussed after "called out".

Only thing I can guess is that the mileage played a HUGE role in paying $165k (seller getting $160k).

I will also add that this is all just disappointing to me. I do not prefer to see our cars jump up into these price numbers. All it does it nag at me that I should sell my car.

Our kids are now gone from the house (6 yrs now), and off living in other states & doing their own thing. Wife & I still love driving our cars & do a lot of it (after last season of driving, we're now over 80k miles on our 964T),... but eventually this kinda price hikes are gonna get to me, and I'm gonna sell.

Steve - just drive your car a ton - it keeps the value down and fun factor up! Problem solved. That’s my plan!

Something does not add up about this car maybe you guys can help me with. AFAIK all the 91-92 turbos at least the ones I have seen up close have full leather interior. This includes the dash, door cards, parcel shelf, knee pad etc. This car has the leather door pulls and center console but has vinyl dash, door cards and knee pad. I know full leather became optional for the 94 turbo and full leather with code 981. AFAIK the 91-92's with full leather do not have code 981 on their frunk sticker.

Any info you can provide would be helpful.

Tony,

I think you're right from all the pictures I've seen, that seems to be the case 91-92 MY. I some cases the seats are changed which I understand but the other pieces as you mentioned are odd.

Whatever may be nobody cares. Prices on cars, assets, etc. are just exploding. When the game of musical chairs ends you just don't to be the one left standing after a major purchase at the top!

you are right with the leather in that car.
and there were other things i stumbled over.
i think the readings are - creative - readings.
some things with this car do optical not meet
the stamps or shown miles.

but no matter - someone had deep bags....

Default Delivery of a 91 Turbo Last Friday

I just picked up a German spec (C00) Guards Red 91 Turbo last Friday with ~312k km. Lots of work done, everything replaced starting at ~250k km (rebuilt engine with sport cams, new clutch/pressure plate, larger turbo, hoses, oil lines, etc). It moved less than 100 km from 2015 til I took delivery. Very well maintained. The receipts from 2010-2015 had the previous owner spent about $85000 on work. I test drove it and it was the greatest car I've ever driven. I'm very happy to be back in the 964, especially my dream car.

My '91 has vinyl upper and lower dashes, vinyl rear package shelf and vinyl center console. The door cards are not stock so I can't speak to those. I think the only leather in my interior would be the steering wheel, door pulls, bin lids and the seats. I thought that was called a partial leather interior?

it seems there was cars w/o full leather. in my porsche service papers there is a note that, other as ordered, my car will be delivered with full leather interior. and additional supple leather sport seats. for me that means it was possible to order without full leather at that time. my car was delivered august 1991.
