Default Teo Fabi owned 911

Long time luker first time Porsche owner. I just purchased a 180,000 mile 1990 911 that was in my price range ( cheap ) rifling though the paperwork after I purchased the vehice was a certificate that the car was built for Teo Fabi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teo_Fabi. The engine was supposed to be redone by apex Motorsports at 120,000. I know this is a long shot but does anyone know anything about this vehicle? This car drives nice but is super rough on the outside and in seeing if this is something I should keep as it stands or make into a track car for the weekends ( intended purpose).

Thanks for any help anyone can provide. I can provide Vin and any other details if that helps.

If it's a 1990 it's a 964. Those guys have their own forum if you hunt around a bit.
Cool story though.

You are the proud owner of a 964 that has it's very own subsection here on Rennlist. Scroll down one more click. Welcome.

Ill upload the document from Porsche, anyways if this things a real letter should I let this guy sit as it is I don't want to bastardize something that has some history. I assume redoing the paint, carpet and reupholstering in wouldn't hurt no matter what?

well that explains the red! (senna's was blue )

welcome and congrats ... you'll have lots of fun bringing that back I hope.

when was it delivered/first registered?
the car was clearly very good to Teo!
... he won his Sports Car championship in 1991 in that purple Silk Cut Jag in the WEC

So he was on top of the world while driving your car!
Write him a letter.

In 1990 Teo Fabi was racing the March Porsche 90P Indy car for Porsche North America, maybe it was a bonus or part of his contract.

Very cool history to have with a car, a 964 built for a Porsche works driver

So Fabi was the first owner. that would be a an interesting bit of info. Do you have any of the original build paperwork? It is hard to tell from pictures but if it was built for Fabi that might have a factory Turbo S tail on it vs an aftermarket.

If that is the case the tail is worth $$$. There is a factory OE stamp in a blob of resin on the factory tails. No part numbers but it would be on the inside center of the rear back of the tail.

Enjoy the project.
