Programs are available for both the catalyst spec U.S. motors, and the Euro/ROW spec cars. All programming for US version cars by default is for 91 or higher octane fuel. The following dyno runs are from a pristine low mile '94 964 RS America on a Dynojet 248x. Engine is completely stock with the exception of a Fabspeed Sport Cat, a Fabspeed Maxflo Exhaust, a modified cut open airbox cover, and the 964 performance chip. Baseline dyno with 91 octane California pump gas, this car produces 237 hp at the rear wheels with the stock chip (blue curves). With our retuned performance chip, the car now dynos 251 hp at the rear wheels (red curves). Calculating for a 15% transmission loss, this engine produces 296 HP at the crank, a 17 hp improvement at the engine, along with a substantial 8-17 ft-lb torque increase through the rpm range."
John, you probably need a dropdown list on the order page so that people can specify the type of chip that they need (stock, cat bypass, fuel octane, etc).

Just had that conversation with our marketing guy about 15 minutes ago haha. As of right now, orders that come through will be contacted with an tuning form to fill out on the variables needed to order the proper DME chip.
With a stock setup/chip are the performance gains noticeable?
Not sure about taking the plunge into exhaust upgrades, yet.
I had had my car for about two years before installing the chip, so impressions at the time:
Installed the chip, started the car... rock solid idle (just like before). Much better throttle response and power below 4000 RPM. Which is exactly what I was looking for. I only have butt-dyno impressions, but I'm driving the car differently now because the power and response is different. I drive the car a lot, the chip has definitely made a positive change to the feel of the car.
do they make one for a TIP? Does it change shift patterns other than the learned ones it has now.
When I was looking for a Tip for my wife, I talked to Steve Wong and he said he could make a chip that would really improve things. Talk to him about your setup.
It's no secret that Steve just tunes the fuel and timing maps, and a tweak for lwfw stalling. Tiptronic shift points won't change, but you'll still get the hp/tq benefit of the timing changes.
I dyno'ed my 100% stock C4 before/after his 93oct chip. WOT gains on a stock engine/exhaust are not immense. Mostly you'll notice much improved part-throttle response. The "on cam" rush around 4500rpm disappears and instead you get more power below 4500rpm to smooth out the acceleration. He's obviously put in a lot of time on the dyno to tune the ignition maps and it shows. I use the 93oct chip that I bought from him as a base for my personal chip tweaks. Definitely a recommended modification, just don't expect an extra liter worth of power.
Love my 93 octane, cat bypass Wong chip. Have also enjoyed a rock solid 880 RPM idle for years... Thanks Steve!

911Jetta said it best, but essentially yes they are nicely noticeable but not as much as if you were to have other upgrades to take advantage of like our Catbypass Pipe.

Yes DME chips are available for the Tiptronic vehicles, and it does not control the shifting characteristics of the transmission

Regarding chips and exhausts, I noticed the biggest improvement after deleting the cat. Better sound, throttle response, etc.

The parts really livened up the previously stock car. It's got a bit of a growl now and while it was perfectly capable of spinning the tach up before there's little comparison. Between the delightful sound and thirsty engine I find myself having to slow down to posted speed limits alot more now. It's like a new car.
Despite reading about stinky Cat Bypass issues it's not been a problem at all even with the top down. When it's not down the windows are open to hear the exhaust more. No smells, running 93 octane. No idea if that matters. The chip is programmed accordingly.

I'm throwing shade on fabspeed because their manufacturing is slow. 6 weeks for a left side 964 maxflow exhaust pipe is unacceptable. I'm talking just the pipe. A 10 inch bent stainless pipe! 6 weeks?? Good service should get praise, but bad service gets its due as well. I can walk to fabspeed, bend the pipe myself, and walk home in less than 6 weeks.

Derek -- thanks for jumping in here and providing some feedback. I certainly understand that waiting for lead times can be frustrated; from the picture you paint, it sounds like you think it takes us 6 weeks to get your actual pipe completed. As if we had one welder who throws an arc for a few minutes, sits down, takes a nap, gets back to it a few days later... LOL! The actual truth is quite the opposite (and just for reference I presented that scenario simply for humor's sake ) In all seriousness, We have an incredible team of highly skilled preppers and welders working 10 hour days to carefully craft the premium products that we supply. They work extremely hard to give each and every order the attention it deserves to produce the high-quality results that we demand for each and every product we send out the door (we have hundreds of orders and there are always more coming in!). If I put your order ahead of everyone else's on the fabrication list because it took less time, that would result in other unhappy customers (some Audi and Lambo systems can take up to 18 hours to complete, they are basically functional welded sculptures!!). We are working tirelessly every day to decrease our lead time, which is after all an industry leading timeframe for a hand-built, proven-power-making, premium product.
