I don't think it is possible to find a 'mint' condition 10-13 year old car. The only way is if you come across one that has not been driven and in safe storage since manufacture. I would think a car like that would be worth a lot more than £20K (not to me but the market in general).

Didn't mean to be pedantic, but it is important to know exactly what the buyer is expecting. I know of someone who is selling theirs but it is what I would describe as good condition (like mine) - i.e. the paintwork is good and 'bright' but there are some minor dents and/or scratches on the car.

No offence taken I should have been a bit more specific with my request.
Send me the details of the car you know of and I will forward the details to the guy who's after a car.

Paul, I take it you haven't ACTUALLY driven a tipronic 964, have you. You should broaden your horizons. I dare say you will be shocked! Though I am not the northern representative for the 'Tiptronics Rule Foundation', the fact is that Porsche, as usual, have done a bloody good job. The lock-up torque converter is the key. Unlike a tradional, 'slushy' automatic, you don't get any torque converter slip once lock up is engaged. So, floor it in first and once you hit about 3000 rpm, its full on, no-slip drive.
The main benefits are full power up shifts and downshifts without needing to heel-toe, making left foot braking ar simpler.
The main drawback is the lack of ratios. Its only four speed, which isn't ideal for keeping the motor in the top of the torque curve.
Like I said, you should try driving one. Lots of fun.

Hi John, I have driven a 996 turbo tiptronic which was bloody awsome,It did make me wonder wiether this car indeed needed a manual gearbox at all,but I have to say theres nothing like choosing when you make the choice to change gear, lets face it its the only way to get optimum performance out of a car and make you feel more connected with your driving.

Re choosing gear- absolutely. I NEVER drive in any of the auto modes - I just change up and down when I want. I miss being able to bang up the revs & drop the clutch - but then I don't need to worry about DMF, clutch problems, burning out £120 tyres etc.
In my quest to find my pal his first Porsche I have just been offered what I can only described as dare I say a "bargain" Its a standard H reg coupe C4 in red LHD, with fsh (not opc), half leather, 4k spent in the last year. The car is immaculate and the guys asking, wait for it.........10.5K.My mate wont buy it cos its LHD but I am seriously considering buying the car just for resale.
