Hi Ale, other CH 964 possessors, dear Rennlisters,
Congrats! Nice cab and very nice detailling! I'm from LU but I go almost on a daily basis to ZH so if you are sharing the address of the detailer... Feel free
For the Oil, well, I have 10w60 in my car too (motorex SAE). But then again, the shop where I bought my car from put this Oil in it, went to MFK, and then sold me the car the day after. So I'm not sure about how honest this was.
They told me that this oil would fit more to the usage I will do of the car, which will be mostly fast mountain roads or track usage everything at spring-summer-automn temperatures.
Now OFC this could be a excuse for one or more leaks. And the underside plate makes it difficult to see. Now, I had 2 other semi-experts (no mechanics that do a lot of mechanic on their own Pcars) take a long look at it and they didn't see any leak.
Another thing, did you look at the service book, when the dual distributor belt has been changed? This should be all 5-7 years or less than 60-80k kms, something like this. If the belt leaves you at a unlucky position, you could look toward a topend rebuild or sometimes worse. Note that I read all that stuff online, no real experience here since I had a 3.2 for 1 year and now a 964c4 for 1 month. But I will have to do it ASAP too.
Personaly I am still looking for a good central-CH 964 shop, I am not sure the PCenters have the right know-how.
I'm using also Motorex 10W60 since years. My 964 has 220'000km and yes there is 2-3 drops under the engine but I'm not sure that it's coming from the oil type.
You can see directly at Porsche they are selling and advice 10W60 for the 964.
Regarding the leaks, it's difficult to say from the photos. But what I would first do is to look at the right rear wheel well. In front of the tire, you will see the oil tank there. See if it looks wet because if it is, I suspect addressing that one it is easier than most other leaks.
Also to check is your upper valve cover gaskets: if those don't seem to be leaking, than it's coming from the top of the engine. I suspect all your valve cover gaskets are in good shape. They look like it in the photos.
Next WE if I find 30 min I'll make all these checks.

I cannot afford Swiss labour costs for these kind of jobs. I take the car to Milan, have it done there, and took it back. It's still cheaper and the guy is serious and well prepared. It's anyhow a job that takes more than one week. It does not make too much difference for me to have the car "blocked" here or there,

I need to check. Unfortunately I do not have all invoices so it's not easy to be completely sure.

Even for this topic I am using a Porsche dealer in Milan.

Same here. When I bought the car the oil used was 10w60.
My "usual" dealer as well told me to keep using the 10w60. I will follow the advice since until now it run like a charm.
If I can give you an info, I'm doing now the check and replacement of the belt in the dual distributor. (after 13 years and 80'000km, I know I'm late...)
I'm not a mechanician but it's really easy to remove it and replace.
I just sent it this week to this guy, he is doing a very complete revision and replace the heads, gaskets, belt, etc...
Please find below the link: http://www.clinique-allumeur.com
He will give you a user guide of how to remove and install the distributor.
Really interesting!
How much will it costs? How long does the operation takes?
And do you have instructions? (just to understand if I could the remove and refit operation by myself)
EDIT: price is clear
Le prix ! Facile à vérifier...... 1340 € chez Porsche ou chez Bosch..... Et aux environs de 8-900 € chez les moins chers des revendeurs en ligne (+ de 845 € chez Oscaro...).
You can send him an email he will send you quickly these instructions. Otherwise you can give me your email by PM and I will forward you everything I received from him..
About the price I took the "premium" pack which is at 720euros.
Add 20 euros for shipping (France to France) or 40 euros from Switzerland.
I sent you my email address. Thanks again.
Now that I remind it, the Porsche dealer in Milan told me as well to check if it has been replaced, else we should have it done together with the service next year.
Better (well, cheaper) anticipate this, probably.
I replaced my distributor drive belt in my "94 C2 at about 62,000 miles (100,000 KM) and it was well worn. I was probably living on borrowed time. If I were you I would replace ASAP if you think it has not been done before. My tech replaced it in about an hour while I waited for the car.
I had no time yet to look at the distributor. Meanwhile a small "upgrade" that in my opinion is worth esch single euro paid (no affiliation with the seller)
A small, L shaped, plastic bar to clean up all the mess of the foam falling from the top on the engine bay.
Ah, if you go for this, order the new screw caps, since the older one are a pain to be re-used.

Can you let us know where you sourced the bar? Thanks.
Another (sourced in the USA) version of this is David Etter's Pad Keeper (no affiliation other than I installed one for my 993). Do a search on Rennlist to see multiple photos of it installed. Price in September 2015 was $159 USD + shipping.
